Description
This a 20 years old song I recorded in Italy on a Tascam 4 track cassette recorder.
I played/programmed all the instruments and Francesca sang.
We called this duo "De Nada, Thank You", in memory of a nice shot in the "Il nome della rosa" movie.
I transfered it from the stereo master tape (just a metal cassette) and I processed (very little) the sound in GarageBand.
I plan to record a new 21th century version of this song and I am also open to collaborations.

Lyrics
Lyrics were composed by Francesca. They are a bit obscure (for those who understand italian), I believe. Nevertheless, I love them since they evoke a lot of metaphors and allegories.

Italian lyrics:

Luce bianca contro i vetri
Spicchi di sole e nubi rosse
Occhi spenti nelle mani
Tanghi lenti come il tempo

Corre il vento
e forte spazza via
libera il tempo.
Grida ruggendo
tutta l'ipocrisia
che ha dentro!

Di ricordi sono piene
tutte le stanze senza chiavi
e rimbombano nei ghetti
canti stonati di donne uguali

Volti vuoti senza faccia
parlano chiaro ma non lasciano traccia
Braccia stanche e silenziose
cadono a terra pesanti come pietre.

Letti pieni di speranza
fanno l'amore coi reggicalze.
E il vento coglie i sogni
prende tempo a piene mani.

Non lasciar che
sia libero e vada da se
Ogni notte lo rincorre
non lo lascia andar mai lontano

Neon che brillano nella notte
segnali di fumo sulla vetta
Corse pazze sulle strade
Cavalli in corsa e niente gratis

Sesso ed alcol nei locali
come si vive lo si chiede ai cani
quelli ammaestrati lo sanno bene
girano e pagano come conviene

Letti pieni di speranza
fanno l'amore coi reggicalze.
E il vento coglie i sogni
prende tempo a piene mani.

Non lasciar che
sia libero e vada da se
Ogni notte lo rincorre
non lo lascia andar mai lontano

Mare nero di burrasca
barche stanche col vento a caccia
soffia ed urla dietro i massi
cade col sole ma rinasce tra i sassi.

Nice
I liked the other song better. This one is good, I just liked the sound of the other one more. Has a very 80's sound to it, seeing that it was recorded 20 years ago, It would fall into that time frame. Again, don't understand or speak Italian, so I'm no help on the lyrics, but sounds good. Keep up the good work.

Stereo?
Isn't there a way to get stereo mix from the original source? This needs L-R separation.

Stereo?
Yes, of course I took the stereo source from tape, but I improved the stereo
rendering with the MDA stereo VST plugin.
Unfortunately I don't have the 4 track orginal tapes anymore...

GarageBand did a good job for processing the audio source. I used the multi-
band compressor, the noise-gate, the MDA stereo, and some reverb. All with
their presets.

The tape sound really dates this!
It's almost like listening to an old record.

I like the song well enough, but the recording sounds so thin I can almost see through it!

One for the archives, I guess.
