Description:
Written for the closing scene of a play about the famous sculptress Camille Claudel. The melody came to me as I was reading the scene for the first time. This is a short piece, only a minute. I have a hope of one day turing this play into a musical, but have to get off my butt first.

Very nice indeed &mdash 03/07/06 - 01:54:36 PM
Short, but very beautiful. I can see myself dancing to this, with the right
woman of course. :-)
God bless,
Rick

Just beautiful &mdash 03/07/06 - 07:29:02 PM
That progression change about three quarters of the way through was
just perfect!
There were some 'Satie' moments in here. Simple, but sophisticated in its
simplicity. [ Reply to This ]

Short and sweet &mdash 04/09/06 - 12:28:24 AM
Nice and sweet through composed thing. Melody carried it. Arrangement
was simple but effective. A pleasure. [ Reply to This ]
Wow! &mdash 04/23/06 - 05:01:35 PM
I'm impressed. It is exquisite. But why so short? It seems to have
potential to grow into something more substantial. It really is quite
wonderful. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks, Clark. It's so short because it was written for the closing moments of a particular show. There is a version that's longer that was used for the beginning of the production, but the instruments don't sound very good to me anymore. Needs cello, clarinet, oboe, and piano.

Understood. I think it'd be great to make a suite of short character pieces like
this... I'm left wanting to hear more. If the idea appeals, the way to proceed
would be to pick a particular mood or image, and write a short piece that
connects to that in some way. Repeat as the fancy strikes you!
Cheers.
