UPDATE OF THIS SONG.ADDED DRUMS AND CHANGED A FEW BITS
Lyrics:
I WISH MY LIFE WAS WOMEN BEER AND LIQUERIVE SQUANDED THE STREETS BEGGED STEALED AND LITTERED
SCONDERED THE NIGHTS BONE CHILLED AND BITTERED
ILL TELL YOU THE TALE OF A MAN BY THE RIVER
HIS SKIN WAS SO WHITE HE MADE YOU JUST SHIVER
HE CRAWLED THROUGH THE NIGHT BEGGED RAPED AND SLITHERED
I WILL SHOW YOU THE WAY TO GO HOME
TAKE IT AND LEAVE ME ALONE
JUST LIKE THE MAN BY THE RIVER
HE TOLD ME TO TAKE ON THE TRUTH
I NEVER DID LISTEN TO YOU
HE DIED IN THE DITCH BY THE RIVER
WE'LL DRIFT THROUGHT THE FOG ON A BOAT ON A RIVER
SAILED TO THE SHORE WE CAN DELIVER
DREAMS THAT WERE ALL GONE
BONES CHILLED AND BITTERED
I FEEL MY LIFE WAS DRUGS DRINK AND LIQUER
I'LL TELL YOU THE TALE OF A MAN BY THE RIVER
HE CRAWLED THRUOGH THE NIGHT BEG RAPED AND SLITHERED
I TOOK YOU FOR A FOOL FOR I AM TO BLAME
YOU SHELTERED ME FROM HARM AND KEPT ME SO SAFE
THE MAN BY THE RIVER
I THOUGHT HE WAS DEAD
IM FEELING NO ANGER
JUST TAKE MY LIFE INSTEAD
YOU KNEW I WAS A FOOL BOY
FOR I AM TO BLAME
YOU SHELTERED ME FROM HARM
AND KEPT ME SO SAFE

Magnetic. Very cool sound, wonderfully swirling lyrics twisting in on
themselves so that the singer and the subject become convolutedly
connected, as if the whole thing is a drunken dream. Fascinating. If I'd
anything, it would be a string type bass to add bottom and menace, as
well as grace and a jazz-like 6/8 drive. Cool track.

Also, consider a different drum track. In my ears, this one is to heavy footed; I'd
prefer something with brushes and a 6/8 feel.

thanx again tobin, your comment type reviews are quite something,im always finding myself agreeing with you.i agree it does sound heavy footed.i only have a couple of drum loops and i dont know how to use them properly.im gonna leave the drums for someone else,im no good at it.thanx tobin

Liked the original. This is wonderful song with improved production. I
feel as some one said earlier that the mix is slightly hot. I would not nit
pick if I didn't feel so strongly about a song. Great work. I found it very
enjoyable. Cheers

This is lovely! The strings are fantastic ... a great tumbling cascade of
jangly sound. Is it all guitar, or is there a dulcimer in there too? It's
wonderful, whatever it is.
The song has a great lilting energy and a lovely melody. Your voice is
excellent too and the harmonies very well crafted. It's a really fine
song.
I don't have a problem with the drums ... they seem to fulfil their
purpose and the rest of the song is captivating enough to carry
everything along.
I'm very impressed.

You had me all the way through... I found this very compelling... your
vox laying is so rich... This piece has a sense of urgency that is a nice
backdrop for this bit of story telling... I'm not sure why I should care,
but I do... this really draws me in
bravo

Downloaded the original a year ago and have it in my car on a mix CD to this day. One of my favourite songs!
I like the addition of percussion though it seemed to slow the song down a bit? Maybe just me.
I surely hope you are performing this stuff live somewhere. I bet it is amazing to see/hear.
Anyway, great job! Looking forward to hearing what you do next.
