Keywords:
z293 (6)Drew Kopr (6)Slingers (1)
Description:
this is the second submission of the virtual band slingers....the first can heard here:http://www.macjams.com/song/10443
slingers consists of macjammers z293...drew kopr...scorpjammer...mcboy.... and some non macjams members rotating on drums.....with guest macjammers to be featured in future submissions....i am hoping for this virtual rock band to evolve into making a cd......not for any financial reasons for myself...maybe for the other cats...hehhhe..(i'll donate my share to the group)...but for the love of playing and interacting across time and space with other creative and sympathetic souls......this track is something of a sampler of the direction we might be heading....i tried to arrange the piece in a rock suite format....i had a burning z293 featured as a lead guitarist in the 3rd section, his favorite.....drew kopr is featured in the 2nd section taking a crackling multiphonic bass solo as well as playing bass guitar anchoring the rhythm section in section one , three and four.......phillipe C. on drums thru out..........i would like to feature other macjammers as rhythm guitarists and lead players in future submissions....(chakeres,aquila,ronnielong,katchoolik,etc...etc.......)....if they would like to.....i'd like to thank the players for their time and creativity...it was so much fun!.....
the format:
intro
first section x2: with my lead
second section: with drew kopr solo in the middle
third section: with z293 lead solo
fourth section: with my lead solo
outro section: ryhthm section ensemble play

Hardware:
powermac g4...protools 002...strat...bass...pearl drums....whatever z293 and drew kopr used....

Software:
protools....garageband.....guitar rig2....blockfish compressor....

Like the stero effect &mdash 03/11/06 - 09:36:21 PM
Like the Jazz stuff, nice use of stero. Very funky and earthy.

Cool jamin!

Nice rockin drive, like that stop about 1/4 of the way through.

Terrific rock licks. Very unusual sounds to go with the guitar as well.
Well done sync stuff!

Well what can you say... &mdash 03/12/06 - 06:43:18 AM
about being a part of this. Mcboy laid down an incredible bed to work
with. The sounds and ideas he comes up with are hard to live up to,
but that's what makes this great, he pushes you to play better without
saying a word except have fun. I received Drew's bass track after I did
my section and was able to listen to just his track. Drew has some sick
stuff going on within his track. One of the best parts was playing to a
real drum track that was amazing thanks to Phillipe. Until next time...

Well what can you say... &mdash 03/13/06 - 12:08:52 AM
My sentiments precisely. Mcboy and Phillipe made a great bed and Mcboy was super cool to work with.

Guitar slingers... &mdash 03/12/06 - 11:31:19 AM
cool ride through the improv land of three lone guitar players, who,
fate would have it, met up in that dusty town of MacJamville. As the
crowd looked on, all wondered... would they have it out on each other?
Not this time. Instead Mcboy gave a quick glance to the sound man in
the wings... and next thing the crowd knew an electric riff fest broke
loose and the the rock gods above took notice.
...smokin'....

Sounds sooo familiar... heheh &mdash 03/12/06 - 12:11:47 PM
Wow! Amazing what this has developed into. Some of the best playing I've
heard from each of these individuals... great variety of styles- and each
contrast is complimentary to the entire suite!

ROCK ON WITH YOUR BAD SELVES!

to get that Tight.

Awesome, Boys.

Dear McBoy &mdash 03/12/06 - 04:42:22 PM
I know i held-up the production of this piece for a long long time. You
were gracious enought o wait for me. Truth be told, I recorded parts
for this song like...maybe 6 times....whenever I had a chance, with
work being busy, trying to get the band some gigs and finishing the
second cd, that wasn't often enough. I threw away everything i played,
because truthfully i had no idea what to play.

I finally sat with it again last night and played a few things that maybe
would have fit...but....

I did learn so much from examining your GB files. That was like going
to school. All those parts so neatly mapped out. Really extraordinary.

You got great performances from everyone, and the production is to
die for. Great job.

Again I apologize to all you guys for gumming up the works for so
long! And great work!!!!!

deepest of bows

Fun project &mdash 03/12/06 - 11:52:44 PM
I enoyed this collab tremendously. Tks for letting me contribute some bass! And, great job on the final mix. McBoy, Z293, and the drummer, who i just learned for the first time was not software, are outstanding, super cool players. Drew.

P.S., I love the graphic art for this piece. I have always envisioned myself as a bulked up, super hero with wings. My dream has arrived.

Best thing is, &mdash 03/13/06 - 05:16:19 AM
...it sounds like fun... Leaves you laughing with your jaw dropped...

This is way out of my league, and I'll only have the audacity to suggest
that the one part of it that slips, sound-wise, is the very, very, very
beginning, the sound of the acoustic guitar is not up to the sounds of
every other instrument that comes after. Has a somewhat artificial
sound to it. My only other nit is that there are places where the savage
crunch of the guitars overpowers the drums a little, and I can tell that
there is both great playing and great sound in the drum track.

But heck, it's a 10-9-10-10 from me. It's a chop-fest that manages to
be very musical....

With stability though it is complex.
Level with very high certainty degree of performance.
Everyone is wonderful.

Missing something &mdash 03/13/06 - 02:08:17 PM

No cowbell? Need more cowbell!

The other stuff (guitars and such) was kinda rad. This could be a
download for me. Lots of different themes and styles tried, I love the
variation.

King Crimson Meets Pinball Wizard &mdash 03/13/06 - 05:55:13 PM
There were hints of King Crimson that I liked, because, well, I like King Crimson. There were also so many wild sounds and starts and stops that it felt like I was in a pinball machine.

Great job.

What else can i say that already hasn't been said. You're all fabulous

This really tickles me all over. Very progressive and entertaining. From one end to the other extreme. Has the hard, the intricate and of course the blues. A master collaboration of the minds. It sounds like everything. Isn't that what it's all about? Way to go guys! This just plain Rolls!

Oh man, Slingers! I had every issue of that series! Heck of a twist the book took too.
Sorry, back on topic. Interesting change-ups. Recording's a bit muffled, but nothing to really keep from hearing everything.
