Description
Ember started as my thought of "The hope that burns within us all, that spurs struggle toward eventual triumph, despite terrible adversity". I first created a piece of music to convey this, and opened it up for others to interpret in their own ways (without giving any hints as to my thoughts about its meaming.) Later, I worked on a poem that was to further describe the seed of the idea. I slightly extended the middle section of the music, and then this poem fit perfectly in place... but I still didn't feel comfortable reading my own poetry. I showed Caroline the poem and she was apparently quite taken by it, and asked if she could read it for me. I am extremely pleased with her rendition of it, and hope you enjoy what we have crafted as the next in this continual phoenix-like rebirth of new Embers.

Lyrics
In the stillness
Of the dark
The world holds its breath
Then lets fly a spark
As the flame warms,
And it grows
The ember of hope is fed
Living energy flows
Reckless, Breathless,
To the ledge
Racing, Flying
Over the edge!
Flying... Falling...
Now cold, broken,
Empty, lost
Rekindling the ember
Is not worth the cost
Despair cries out,
No reply
Pain, numbness, apathy
Darken the eye
Cold black tendrils
Cool the fire
There is no need to fight
The final rest is what's desired
Long dead stones
Once tightly sealed
But now, shining through forgotten cracks
Dormant power is suddenly revealed
Confidence builds,
Strength returns
The flame renewed
Now brightly burns
When all is lost,
And you can't cope
Save one last breath
For the ember of hope

This is my first listen to Carolines voice, and she's perfect for the part.
Absolutely perfect! Now where was I for the original submission -
Likely hanging out on the more sketchy side of MJs...
Drak, it seems that almost everytime I listen to one of my favs here,
that it almost always is something that resonates w/ me, and more so
than I could have imagined. Maybe this is 'poetic justice'... Certainly,
the spirit is captured here and my hopes are, that it is one that
everyone will be able to relate to at some eventual point in life...
Nice work Sir. And I'm very happy to know ya. Dion
