choly and charming.....good production and I really enjoy the vox...very dirty and real....great mysterious and sparse arrangement...the groove rolls nicely and I love the distance that the verb gives the voice....almost haunting and yet remains candid...one of the more unique pieces I've heard here....this is really great work [ Reply to This ]
Great &mdash 03/12/06 - 11:43:57 PM
production on this... definitely soundtrack material! Great picture too. I agree with gemini. [ Reply to This ]

Very Dave Stewart Feel &mdash 03/13/06 - 04:12:16 AM
I was expecting to hear Annie Lennox! LOL.
Very interesting arrangement, excellent voice and violin. [ Reply to This ]
Sparse and wonderful &mdash 03/13/06 - 04:25:15 AM
Really enjoyed the setting and production on this track - an
unexpected arrangement but one which doesn't detract from the sad
tale in the lyrics.
Fiddle can be a tricky instrument so I was a bit nervous before listening
but considering the fiddle track was pitched with an instrument that's
no longer present I think your use of it here has worked out
surprisingly well. In fact it's encouraged me to go back to playing
more electric fiddle.
Now you ought to have a go at some Kurt Weill!

Sparse and wonderful &mdash 03/22/06 - 01:26:42 AM
Kurt Weill would be awesome.
I told Caroline she should do "Pirate Jenny"!
I think the rights are held, though. There's a Kurt Weill Foundation of some
sort... would be worth looking into, though! Brecht's daughter holds all the
rights to his stuff. :( [ Reply to This ]
sweeet &mdash 03/13/06 - 07:42:44 AM
loved the sounds in this! vocals were great, i loved the way it just kind
of plodded along but with enough going on that kept me thoroughly
interested the entire way, this one is a fav [ Reply to This ]
I like this version better! &mdash 03/13/06 - 11:19:20 AM
I liked this version better the the first one, although its a long time since i heard it! This actually sounds like a James Bond Soundtrack! Really! You sound so intence!!! Great tune again!!

kool koncept! &mdash 03/13/06 - 01:41:33 PM
Very nice... I like your revamped singing style on this (though I liked the
prior version for other reasons.) I love the light orchestration, and the
violin floating in the background... keeps me straining to hear the echoes
of a time long passed. Lovely, this is very well done, 3 kudos, one for
each of you! Faved.

okay &mdash 03/13/06 - 02:48:56 PM
so i'm finally getting my lazy self around to commenting on this!
caroline! i've never heard you sing like this! passion! some of the
immediacy of the guitar version is lost, but it's totally worth it for the
power you have here! fabulous!
alf... what you've done with the music here is extraordinary. it's almost
a totally different song.
and the violin is great, kk!

boss sound from two bosses &mdash 03/16/06 - 04:04:00 AM
What a team. You two rule! I want a little less reverb on your voice.
Brilliant this is. Kudos to KK and Caroline. You sing of things sad and
the punctuation provided by the soundtrack gives it a primo theatrical
quality.

Spare me a ride on your limousine... &mdash 03/16/06 - 11:14:46 PM
This has the feel of a James Bond soundtrack... Putting aside the lyrics, I
can imagine female sillhouettes acting across the screen like the opening
of an 007 movie. ;-) ala Goldeneye.
Caroline, wow! Although the lyrics begs for a dime, the rhythm and
melody are high-class, and you sang it like a well-heeled diva. [ Reply to This ]
Giving it some vibrato! &mdash 03/17/06 - 12:30:18 PM
Great collab...I like the whole presentation...really gives the song a new
dimension. Caroline you are sounding like a Shirley Bassey-esque
diva...giving those vox some major welly! I would have liked to have heard
the vox a bit louder and less reverby in the mix...but that nit aside this is
a great track
Nice one guys!

really nice.......wonderful voice..... perhaps the reverb is a little too artificial..... but i love the performance.... [ Reply to This ]
Minimal &mdash 05/11/06 - 02:31:38 PM
Yep, too much reverb on the vox, violin too deep in the mix. Way too
much drum intro, start on the synth bass. Wish the drums sounded more
real too.
Vocals have great character. Klaus Nomi! [ Reply to This ]

How Did I Miss This? &mdash 03/21/07 - 10:20:52 PM
Really great performance. Wonderful song given all the meaning that it's timeless message deserves. Way to go Caroline and Komrade K! [ Reply to This ]
yes, it took me quite some time... &mdash 03/26/07 - 11:15:55 PM
...to synch Caroline's voice & Komrades violin in time with the instrumentation. Caroline sent me her raw vocal track, which I spliced, re-pitched & put 'into time' with my backing track (the middle 8 section was sung in a different key to the original chord progression, so I had to re-harmonise that section!)-the same had to be done with Komrade K's violin track (which Caroline sent me when I had almost finished the song).
I originally didn't anticipate using the 'electronica'-style orchestration, but it seems to have worked out reasonably well.
I'm really glad you like this version-quite some effort was put into it.
Thanks Bronco...
