Relationships (24)Breakup (20)endings (1) ()
Description:
Joseph:

This is a remake of a song submitted back in 2004, that has been revived and revitalized by Coop. It goes back about 16 years and has lasted much longer than the band it was written for.

And if you ever had a relationship, love, friendship, etc. that was over, but never really ended, it simply faded slowly over time, then you'll know where this was coming from.

I laid down the basic tracks and Coop added rhythm and solo guitars. He also mastered the track.

The original version can be heard here.

Vocals: Joseph
Lead Guitar & Rhythm Guitars: Coop
Rhythm Guitar: Joseph
Bass: Joseph
Mastering: Coop

Uses several modified and unmodified JP percussion loops.

Lyrics:
Sitting waiting for the day to come.
Nothing heavy on my mind.
Watching the rain on the window sill.
Feeling good wasting time.
Cause you know.

It's all over now.
It's all over now.

Mary tell me does your garden grow.
With all the weed you've sown.
I feel the rain as it's pouring down,
All this time I should have known.
Cause you know.

It's all over now.
It's all over now.

I should have seen trouble heading my way.
Since I first laid eyes on you.
You took me places where no man could ever go.
Now you want me running, back to, you.

I threw away all your memories.
All your bad advice too.
I feel the rain wash your image from my mind.
I think I'll find someone new.
Cause we know.

It's all over now.
It's all over now.
It's all over now.
It's all over now.

Hardware:
Guitars, Computers and all the various things that lie in between.

Software:
Both of us used GB for recording and mixing. Coop used Peak to master the track.

Cool Tune &mdash 03/15/06 - 11:59:04 AM
I like this. It showcases Coop's great production skills. Nice chugging rhythm guitar. I like the panning of the other guitar parts also. Nice vocals and lyrics. Good collaboration.

Thanks for the comments, stratcat! One of the biggest benefits for me in this venture is learning about mixing and mastering from Coop. He really made this tune shine.

Appreciate you taking the time to listen./

Excellent combo &mdash 03/15/06 - 01:35:19 PM
I'm just returning back from listening to Mr Coopers latest; I went
there to try to learn just what it is that he does. I know what you've
done JG, but it's quite different here... It's always good, but this feels
lighter, more defined and quite refreshing, in general, as a sound to
listen to. A perfect rainy Sunday, just kinda hanging out kinda tune.

i mean really, who couldn't relate to this... It doesn't have to be YOUR
genre, and you don't have to like it, but if you can't relate to this, it
would make it hard for me to believe that you could be honest... This
tune is very honest and everything is tight and 'right on' - Great lyrics
too. - Excellent.

I do wish that I knew for sure who was playing what. I'm thinking that
RT played the intro and other leads, but regardless, nice smooth
playing throughout. JG, I do like your voice so much better w/o the
heavy FX - No need to be self-conscious anymore, it can be all over
now...

I'm digg'n it, big time. - Nice goin guys - Thanks! - Dion

Excellent combo &mdash 03/16/06 - 10:41:54 AM
One of the things MacJams has helped me with is getting more confident about my vocals and you, my friend, have always been encouraging and reassuring about my voice. Many thanks.

I had meant to include a breakdown of who did what on the tune, but in my excitement to get it posted, I forgot to include it. That's been rectified. Coop did all the mastering work and talked me through the mixing process. He also played all the solo guitar parts and the "noodley" backing guitar parts. I did the bass, the vocals and the "crunchy" guitar part.

Thanks for your comments, Dion. Glad the tune struck a chord with you. :)

Good colab &mdash 03/15/06 - 03:03:32 PM
I like this one a lot - infectious beat and excellent bass part. Coop's
lead soars appropriately, and there is some great rhythm playing in
there. Lyrics are something we can all relate to sometime in our lives.
Like those snippets of harmonies too, and I'm with Dion about the vox
being better this way.
Good colab,
Neil

Many thanks, Neil. This one's special not only because of the work done on it, but it's my wife's favorite too. (She's been hearing it since the early days in the one bedroom college apartment all those years ago.) Appreciate your taking the time to listen and your comments.

great song &mdash 03/15/06 - 03:11:34 PM
I like the song melodies, the harmonies and guitar parts were great. The
lyrics were good. The singing was ok, needed a little work, but the vocal
quality was nice though, you have a very nice-sounding voice Joe.
panning of guitars was OK, the drums were good and well-placed.

Drakonis

Woooh, nice one &mdash 03/15/06 - 04:13:19 PM
Wow, I really like this. Really great groove and lovely chunky guitar and
bass. It's a great catchy song and beautifully put together. The
harmony vocals are very nice too.

I've been amused by Joseph's banner slogan about listening to too
much music from the 80s ... I think this song shows you've been doing
exactly the right thing. There's a nice retro feel to it which works really
well.

So, is this the birth of a new MacJams supergroup?

Woooh, nice one &mdash 03/16/06 - 11:19:09 AM
Heh! There was a point, not too many years ago when my wife said I wouldn't listen to any music made after 1985. That, of course, was untrue. I would listen to some music made in 1986 and 87, if it was from an artist who I liked pre-1985. :)

Glad you liked the tune, Rebsie. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Coop and I have several other tunes in the works, so keep your eyes peeled.

Thanks for listening and thanks for your very kind comments!

The Cure! &mdash 03/16/06 - 11:14:04 AM
This reminds me a bit of the Cure, maybe a bit more mellow then The cure! The mix sound very nice and clean on my monitors. But i am wondering if this might cause some distortion on some cheap speakers? Very nice when the tambourine comes, a tambourine always lifts a piece way up! Your voice sounds very good on this Joseph!! Great collab guys!

The Cure! &mdash 03/16/06 - 11:27:56 AM
You may have just helped give us a clue in a mystery, Selters. We've had some reports of some distortion on some systems and we're trying to chase down the culprit. I always mix using headphones and it was mastered that way as well, so I've wondered how it would sound on speakers.

Glad you liked the tune. And nice ears, BTW. I'd actually forgotten there was tambourine in there. :) Thanks for listening and commenting.
