Description:
This is the 2nd of two collaborations using kcsaito's open collab blues piano solo, "Tell Me Your Blues".

Shortly after my original post on February 22, RCANDREWS emailed me a unique story and great lyrics that he wrote entitled, DAT OLE BLU-LITE. After a couple of weeks of exchanging ideas and audio files, here's what we came up with. We hope you like it.

RC and I would like to extend a special thanks to KCSAITO for his piano solo, without which this idea would've never taken shape.
------
About the comp:
Originally, RC and I were going to just add his vocals to my original version. Since we took the trouble set up an interview-style discussion about the history behind the lyrics at the beginning of this collaborative piece, I felt that this version needed to have its own sound while not straying too far from original version. I decided to play my guitar solo a little differently, along with the adding an intro and different ending.

We thank you for listening.

KCSAITO - piano

"Dat Ole Blu-Lite"
by rcandews

Well ya know I been uh..
I been followin dat old blue light for some time now
It been callin me from da dark night
N i got to get to it some how

Ya know dat old blue light callin me
Yea it callin me back now
Can ya hear it callin me?

(instrumental solos)

N now my baby like dat blue light evadin me
Drivin me crazy talkin bout to da point i can't see
N no amount of road rushin under my wheels

Terrific &mdash 03/16/06 - 10:32:49 PM
I think this is a classic .mp3 blues. The mix seems spot on. Even with the
conversation. That was really cool as well. Very entertaining the way it was
done. RC is such perfect a perfect vocal for this. Really entertaiing,
unique to my ears. You guys all really fit in here. The lead has a lot of
flair, enjoyable piano.

Way to go!

Thanks, Bill.

Once I read rc's story, I felt compelled to collaborate. Man, you gotta love his story. It gives the song serious roots.

Really clean mix, I agree RC's vocals are great in here, and great job again on the piano and guitar to carry the blues. Great job.

Thanks Harold!

Hey, it's Berks Jazz Fest time up here and I'm counting down to what is being billed as the World Premier of Brazilain singer-songwriter and composer, Ivan Lins and Friends. Lucky us!

To give you an idea of how big Ivan's music is, it's been covered by, Quincy Jones, George Benson, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Betty Carter, Barbara Streisand and Diane Shurr.

Ivan is bringing along two of Brazil's veteran session guys, Cafe (pecussionist) and Romero Lubambo on guitar. Man, this show is gonna cook!

I highly recommend Ivan's LIVE CD entitled Cantando Historias. It is WOW!

Obrigado!

Nice Traditional &mdash 03/17/06 - 04:33:47 PM
sound from all of you. I like how everyone steps aside to let each other
take the lead. Scorp nice cutting lead from you.

Raise the Roof - the Room's Jammed with Talent.

Fabulous, High Flame Guitar solo, (Delicate control of the Terrible
Powerful Drive of the Blues Heart) using Master Dynamic Control.

The Juke Joint Piano could be Pinetop Perkins, himself. Great Color and
Clarity - Deliberate.

RC pushes to the edge of Tom Waits and pulls back to the plaintive
tonality of Delbert McClinton (no Small feat).

I am, however in the minority on the Mix (ironic, coming from me, I
know, but) which has too much Center, on this Rig, with the non-solo
parts falling too far back rather than to the side of the Sound Stage, as
it were. I Mix Everything in the Yellow Lights, but as a Vocal-Front Mix
( 3-5dB, Lead "voice") as long as that is predominant and clear, the
rest should stay as forward as possible, so you don't lose those Licks
(Picket-Line Style).

Geez, that a lot to say about a minor point of a Great Piece of Blues.
Especially one that has Nothing but Stand Out performances - to the
Man. (Ah, please broaden the SoundScape a Tad, Sir).

Top Shelf. Compliments to All.

Best,
rtc

Nice overall sound to it. Vocal has a Howlin Wolf thing going. Sounds
good. Nice chops on the guitar also.

You need sunglasses to listen to this one. Nice performances, guys. I
love how the blues makes me smile (when done right). Very entertaining
