Fairies &mdash 03/16/06 - 09:32:29 PM
Sounds like you have faery motion. fireflies are sometimes like fairies.

play; continous, I would have liked a variance of colors. A phase change to
a slightly different mood and then mingle back. I noticed you had several
different moods going tightly woven. Sometimes it is good to pause a
mood for drama. and then weave it back in slowly. In your case separation
and then union.
Texture yes, that was good. But sometimes a hem in the cloth will
suggest an arm or a leg. And then you get a bigger picture; like hinting at
a horizon.
I guess you can tell I liked your work.

She's a firefly &mdash 03/16/06 - 10:31:24 PM
But she's still MissChaos. I still hear a great deal of your earlier style
here, which is a good thing. But I also hear you trying some new
things, which are very nice... hey, how do you like those nice rich JP4
strings? MissChaos on JP4, yummy! I'm a nut for rich bass, and you
have some very strong rich bass sounds in there that create an
interesting atmosphere. Your orchestration is very crisp, the
instruments and sounds are well-delineated, which I like... not muddy.
I like the weird spot in your music where the firefly smacks into a plant
and shakes herself and has to change key and start over. Overall, it is
sort of cotton-candy-ish, not a real strong melody per se, but more of
a feeling imparted, I hear the buzzing wings, I see colors flowing by...
that's what the good-old MC-piano-arpeggios and this new style
orchestration impart. Overall, this is slightly more upbeat and fun than
your others, not emotionally heart-wrenching, but still very enjoyable
to listen to. It almost sounds like a sketch for something greater,
maybe because I'd like to hear more :-) Sigh, another fave & DL from
you! Very nice work here!

Drakonis

Oh, and another thing &mdash 03/16/06 - 10:40:52 PM
What wonderful artwork! Did you design that? And as for genre, other
than creating one just for you, probably New Age would work, although
that seems to have an unfortunately negative connotation, or maybe its
just me who is embarrassed to admit to enjoying a little New Agey
D.Arkenstone or M.Oldfieild now and then. Dragons are supposed to be
all jagged and craggy, and not be soft romantic Enya-loving softies. Oh
well... just don't tell anyone, OK?

Drakonis

Oh, and another thing &mdash 03/17/06 - 03:11:45 PM
Well, Drak, we discussed Enya already so I won't rub it in here and embarass
you. :-) As always, I look forward to your comments. You are right on in your
descriptions (will you write them for me from now on?). I'm loving JP4, but I've
got plenty to learn. For the most part, I had more fun creating this one and
focused more on sound & texture than the uber-emotional element. Helps, too,
that I had a little noizy influence around. :-) Thank you, E.

Miss_Chaos, this is quite the spectacular tune. I'd love to get in detail like Drak, but I'll keep my comment short and pointless. :D

Sensuous and sensual &mdash 03/20/06 - 08:28:34 AM
...and there seems to be a contented purring noise cropping up at the low
end from time to time! It's like taking a bath in warm chocolate butter -
utterly lovely. Not that I've actually taken a bath in warm chocolate butter
but this is definitely the audio equivalent!!!

good. :-) Thanks, KK, for such sweet & warm words. Mmm.

very moving music. I'm not so much into genre labels, but I hear jazz and classical elements. Sophisticated and emotional. Great Job! MissC.

karma &mdash 03/21/06 - 02:08:07 PM
this is lovely. if i knew how to make any of this kind of stuff, i'd have
more to say. but i don't.

other than i dig it... and i totally got the feel of spring, no wait... yes,
spring. nope, cold again. come on! when will the flowers bloom?

but you know they will in the end.

btw, how do you like that iControl thing? the gadget freak in me wants
one, but i'm just doing on track recordings lately, so it's of no use to
me really.

[ Reply to This ]
karma &mdash 03/21/06 - 02:27:23 PM
Thanks, urbanite! The iControl? Meh. Take it or leave it. It's better suited for
guitar & bass players because it brings the most used features in GB to a sort of
mobile interface; reduces the need to use the mouse and keystrokes in GB. But I
find myself turning back toward the laptop and mouse anyhow to adjust timings
and such anyhow. I'm actually selling my iControl. :-) Nice of you to stop by
here and listen to my cute lil' tune.

Smooth and mellow &mdash 03/21/06 - 05:53:05 PM
Builds nicely--I think "ambient" is definitely the right genre for this one. Nice, distinct separation in the various layers--not muddy even with so much going on. Could be a cinema soundtrack.....

Your music always evokes the great outdoors &mdash 03/21/06 - 06:15:36 PM
in the most epic way. All the grandeur and danger of the wilderness is
here. I felt like I should be wearing a coat, racing to get home before
dark, before the night closed in. Top notch.

I could listen and listen all night &mdash 03/21/06 - 07:10:14 PM
This is the kind of piece that doesn't tire me out - there's just exactly the
right balance of constancy and change. Always something new to listen
for, yet I'm settled right into where I'm comfortable. I love the
interweaving of natural sounding instruments with synthesized sounds.
Nice tempo, too.

An Emotional Twist &mdash 03/21/06 - 08:41:02 PM
This has many of your classical elements built into what I guess you
would call almost a piano piece? I love it. Beautiful and emotional as
usual. The strings in there are wonderful too, especially the quick little
bows. Wonderful job, and sorry for taking so long to get to this.

fireflies..and butterflies in my stomach &mdash 03/24/06 - 09:42:15 PM
9-10-9-9! An instant fave!

The opening waves of strings and Spanish guitar immediately got me
from the very first few lines... I was all lost in enchantment after that..like
a wanderer suddenly roaming through a land of dreams and then falling
and swiming in a river of imaginations... The staccato strings and pulsing
pads just make an intoxicating mixture of fantastic sounds that sends me
in a whirl of delirium... Then the dream ends in a sudden jolt of silence.
Awesome..awesome... did i just imagine that or did i really hear it?

[ Reply to This ]
excellent. &mdash 03/25/06 - 08:49:43 AM
wow. i loved the harmonic content...... the delicacy of the piano flirting from above...... the percussives all filtered in a juicy way gives the track a really subtle drive....... nice nice listen.

Genius! &mdash 04/07/06 - 04:56:01 PM
Great combination of piano, strings and synth beat. Although you mention that the song has about 25 tracks, it doesn't sound contrived or "overmixed" at all. Has an organic flow to it. Could be twice as long and I would still enjoy it. Absolutely beautiful!

I love this... &mdash 04/19/06 - 07:55:46 PM
the cracks and hisses add to it and the string change up is very nice.

the bubbly stuff is nice but a bit much (just a teensy bit at that) around
the middle of the piece.

Definite mind movie material, DLing this.

Thanks MissC!

ahem &mdash 04/19/06 - 08:22:41 PM
Great instrumental MissC love the slow gradual build up, and the use
of minor chords thru out. No vocals needed on this track as it is very
complete on its own and held my interest from start to finish.

anticipation and hope is that it lights a fire of inspiration. I could oil paint
all day to this. When the rhythm pick sup an dstarts to drive backed by
those strings it makes my heart spill forth with all its creative desires.

composition. I think all too often there is too much going on in music.
Not so with you. Perfect doses of everything. Nicely done, MissChaos.

I came to the party late on this one.... &mdash 06/28/07 - 01:37:42 PM
I can only apologise for missing this gem. An evocative, nostalgic, longing, hopeful piece of music.

The undertow to the piece has the inklings of what nowadays I know is 'you'. (I know what I mean (musically) but can't explain it better).

Thanks for pointing me in the mix's general direction.

Blown away (like cotton grass seed on the wind).

Paul.
