fun and smart &mdash 03/17/06 - 08:27:15 AM
When I first heard this I thought it ran on too long without a break -
that it needed a dramatic pause in it for relief from the endless
repetition of melody. It turns out I was the one that needed the break,
because when I came back a day later to hear it again, that objection
ceased to be a concern - now the length and flow seemed fine.

On this second visit the song also, suddenly, made sense to me. That
is, I interpreted it in a way that all the pieces fit. As the endless pulsing
pace of life rushes on, the voices represent a metaphorical struggle of
the opposing forces desire and denial. This could be a portrait of
family life, with the kids always begging "please, please, please" and
Dad parentally responding with a "No." Or it could be more reflective of
the social/emotional situation you refer to in the song's description. Or
on a more general level, it could be viewed simply as the endless clash
between authority vs. liberty.

None of these specific interpretations need to be correct. The point I'm
trying to make is you've put together an engaging little song that's
both fun to listen to, while also being intellectually engaging.

Thank you for the compliment. You pretty much nailed it in reference to the
description. The kids that I work with are, very often, denied the basic
reqirements of living while being forced into unhealthy (and often sexual)
relationships with adults who should know better. Thanx again!

authority &mdash 03/17/06 - 12:37:58 PM
I work with emotionally superior children; wish I could live up to them. I
say no a lot. They respond well to my authority; don't think I abuse them.
You could probably ask then as they are around here somewhere.
Maybe authority should be defined. I wish children could live happy lives.
God bless you for helping these out of the loop of abuse. Maybe you
could develope a song about that success. Do you have happy endings?
That would be what I would like to see in your work, and in your song. I
pray it is so.

Thank you for the blessing. Yes, I do have many pieces that are happier. In fact,
the very first piece I arranged on GB was entitled "Hope" and was used in my
employer's promotional video for our creative therapies department. I will soon
poes some more of these. They are, of course, simpler pieces as I have added
equipment as I go along. Thanks for your input and your personal experiences.
