Lyrics
A lonely tone at midnight against an azure sky,
a wolf’s howl reverberates against the stone cold walls
making discordant harmonies that make the graves cry.
It’s just enough to forget that he was a man at all.

He fell into his lover’s kiss and felt the hot and stinging bliss.
She took his heart, she took his soul and his blood.
With him she would forever lie, this love could never never die.
She left him a human shell, nothing left but love.
Chorus
“I believe I believe I believe I must go,” he said,
“I believe I believe I believe that you know
The full moon calls my name and I’m not the same.
Yours was the forever kiss, I can’t go anymore.”

Christabel was darkness, and paradise, and fire.
Her worshipper became like her, filled with one desire,
Until with a stake in his hand and a tear in his eye, He said, “I live in hell!
This can’t go on!This can’t go on! This is the end of Christabel!”
(repeat chorus)

Now a thousand dreary nights, now a thousand lonely nights,
the wolf’s howl still sighs as her death knell,
making discordant harmonies that make the stones cry:
His life an eternal requiem to the soul of Christabel.

Nice guitar line. Very catchy. The lyics are pretty cool too...I especially
liked the "human shell" line. Even if it wasn't intended to be dark humor, I
laughed anyway.

It sounded forced in the chorus part though. (The "I Believe" parts)

Otherwise, awesome.

It's okay to laugh. I don't know if I can fully take the song seriously myself.
Sometimes you just can't really hear a song until you've actually put the whole
thing on tape... this was a song I wrote in 1991 and didn't get around to
actually recording until now. There's definitely stuff in here I like, but I don't
know if it's going to... like, make it to my "greatest hits" or anything.

I did this thing a few weeks ago where I locked myself in the walk-in closet
(which doubles as my sound booth) and recorded as many of my old songs in
that "I think this might be good, but I have to hear it" category as I could get
done in four days. And this was one of the results. Details are on my musical

background on the songs.... I don't know if anyone reads that stuff, but it's
kind of fun to write.

Thanks for the feedback.

You use the word reverberate - how dark is that.

At first, didn't know what to make of your voice, but it really grew on me (little like the Church). i agree with the Rev about 'I believe', it's too unsubtle for the rest of the song, but what a guitar solo.

Loved this - thanks for posting

Thanks, echoroom.

"At first, didn't know what to make of your voice, but it really grew on me"

I get that a lot. Often, I don't know what to make of my own voice. It rarely
does exactly what I want it to... but sometimes I grow to like how it turned
out.

Back in my early 20s, I was practicing bass three hours a day, playing in a band with a drummer who practiced six hours a day and a guitarist who was one the "up and coming" lead guitar players of my home town. Plus, I was writing a song every day. I... [see more]
