Finger style accoustic guitar... kind of driving feel

Lyrics:
YOU WON’T FIND HIM AMONG
THE PROUD MEN WHO INSIST THAT THEY ARE STRONG
YOU’LL FIND HIM WITH THE MAN
WHO CRIES OUT GOD FORGIVE ME, I AM WRONG
YOU MAY NOT FIND HIM IN
THE CHURCH THAT IS TO COMFORTABLE AND WARM
YOU’LL LIKELY FIND HIM IN
THE WIND THAT RUSHES UP BEFORE THE STORM

FIND HIM IN THE UNLIKELY PLACE
SEE HIS EYES IN THE ORPHAN’S FACE
FIND HIM WHERE YOU ARE LAST TO LOOK
HOMELESS MAN COULD BE HIM MISTOOK

YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED HIM
WHEN YOU PASSED THE HOMELESS MAN NOW LEFT FOR DEAD
LOOK HARD YOU’LL SEE HIM
IN THE HOLLOW EYES OF CHILDREN WITHOUT BREAD
THE PRETTY PREACHER ON
THE TV SAID HE’S WITH US HERE TODAY
I THINK I’LL FIND HIM FOR MYSELF
AND SEE JUST WHAT HE HAS TO SAY

FIND HIM IN THE UNLIKELY PLACE
SEE HIS EYES IN THE ORPHAN’S FACE
FIND HIM WHERE YOU ARE LAST TO LOOK
HOMELESS MAN COULD BE HIM MISTOOK

FIND HIM IN THE UNLIKELY PLACE
SEE HIS EYES IN THE ORPHAN’S FACE
FIND HIM WHERE YOU ARE LAST TO LOOK
HOMELESS MAN COULD BE HIM MISTOOK
FIND HIM IN THE UNLIKELY PLACE
WIPE THE TEARS FROM THE WIDOW’S FACE
FIND HIM WHEN YOU GO DO YOUR PART
FIND HIM WITH YOUR HEART

Excellent track, from the smooth tasty guitar work (great tone) to the
vocals, to the composition, to the vocal phrasing. Everything is just
sweet. There's so many good things going on in this song. Lyrically
compelling. I love the harmonies. great tune! great job!

Honestly! I'm even going to go as far as to say that this is probably one of
the best folk tracks I've heard on here! Everything sounds so smooth and
pro; the playing, the singing, the recording and just the overall feel of the
whole piece.
I have absolutely nothing to criticize here.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to listen to this a couple of more times.

Outstanding!

influences are from a far greater power. Thanks once again. Nice tune

I listened to three songs In backwards order date-wise and this is by far
my favourtie, loving the guitar playing and yet again the awsome song
writing. The production was perfect aswell, could have easily been
overdone but this was great.

Excellent pro-sounding track. Hard to find anything to criticise here - excellent guitar/vox/lyrics/song - great lead vox especially. Really nice song - definite CSNY influences, but also a sniff of Jethro Tull to me in your phrasing on the lead vox. Beautiful production.
Welcome to MJ!!

Wonderful song... great production. An incredibly spiritual song but does
not come across as preachy. In particular, I like the line "I think I'll find
him for myself and see just what he has to say."

Extremely well done in all aspects! Welcome to MacJams!

After listening to all your recent submissions, I'd like to say that this
intimacy and live feel is my favorite production feel. It is like a David
Crosby track, one of my heroes, and surrounds with the best of
passionate craft and overspilling artfulness. So good.

and by the way... I love the chorus harmonizing... tight and full sounding. As others have already commented, this song is a real gem and lacking nothing to my ear. Wonderful lyrics powerfully sung, communicating a thought provoking message. Glad to have you here as a part of Macjams.

CS&N Overtones &mdash 03/20/06 - 07:40:37 PM
Another wonderful piece of music, Scott. Yes, it sounds like some of
Stephen Stills' wonderful guitar work, coupled with the strains of CSN
harmonies. But all in your own voice --- and with a solid message.

You're a true musical craftsman and your work deserves a broader
audience. ;-)

Finding Him through your music... &mdash 03/23/06 - 09:30:42 AM
Not much into preachy spiritual songs, but this song is different. It
delivers the message without being overbearing and touches the heart in
a subtle way. It is irresistible to hear the Good News if it is delivered in
such a lyrical and musical way that it caresses and uplifts the spirit rather
than in a manner that it makes you feel how undeserving we are of God's
love and mercy. For that alone, your wonderful music has served it noble
purpose. I admire the vocal performance and the very clean harmonies.
The instrumentals are precise and understated and fittingly serve as a
background instead of stealing attention away from the melodic message.
More power to you in your music and mission!

Equipment? &mdash 03/24/06 - 11:41:24 AM
Hi Yuji... thanx; 1st I make sure that whatever I'm recording sounds good....
tune the drums... new strings.... don't record the ovation, record one of he
taylors... and listen... if it sounds good, better chance it will record well...
choose the mike that fits the situation... I'm always looking for deals on mike
(can't have too many) do your own tests on your mikes so you know them... I
often record acoustic guitar mono with an akg 535, or MXL, depending on
how intimate the guitar should sound for the song... it will be some
condenser mike for sure. I might also mix in some direct out of the guitar
transducer.... or at least have that track even if I don't use it.... reverse
phase, pan to one side, listen, experiment....(signal path is a key factor in
getting good sound) spend the money on preamps and mikes.... I record in
through my drawmer tube preamp compressor with just a slight 2db
reduction on the compressor, anything more can be added at the mix stage...
On these acoustic song you want a natural sound so I don't over compress...
If I hear the compressor it is too much.... these songs I used Motu A/D
converters... but now I'm using mackie onyx A/D conversion... I love the
preamps... best bang for the buck

I hope that covers it .. if you have specific questions feel free to e-mail me

This is crazy. MacJams is known to carry some really hi quality music ...
but this is just out of range. This is just top of the pop! If someone told
me this was the latest Crosby Nash single I would gladly believe it, and be
happy that they were able to crate something of this freshness again!

Scott, as everyone has said, this is a wonderful song, and it's executed
with full heart, which draws the listener in completely. You deliver your
message in an insightful way that so many people trying to state
something they believe in are unable to.

Additionally, the musical aspect of this is at such a high level - the
playing, the changes, the singing, the harmonies, the flow - everything
works. I've not heard better in this genre. I hope you realize you have a
tremendous gift. Several of us here seem to realize it.

...but I did! When I saw the subject matter I thought I might be turned
off by it--thought it might be overly preachy. However, I found the
playing and harmonies won me over.:) The playing felt at first a bit like
Michael Hedges and the vocal harmonies like CSN. I could easily picture
this song on MH's last album, Torched. Very well done. Thanks for

Michael Hedges &mdash 05/21/06 - 05:33:36 PM
Yeah, I saw Hedges live 3 times, too. I saw him at Town Hall in NYC in the
early 90s, once in Boston and once at the Bottom Line in NY in '96. I loved
turning people on to his music, particularly through his live performances. It
was one thing to hear him, but to see him play was truly amazing. I was
supposed to go see him in '97, but the weather was bad so we didn't go.
There's always next year, I said. He died later that month. I always regretted
not going to see him that last time.

I sorely miss that stuff... - For some reason, this made me cry in a way that made me feel both joyously and sad at the same time - To try and put words to what I felt in your performance here, it would only diminish what that listening experience was for me, and likely, it would only diminish what it is to have arrived at such the state at which time and place, this was being offered... - You have made it obvious that we may at times find the essence of him, amongst us... - You are truly gifted, sir - And it is one of those gifts that has no choice but to continue w/ it's offerings... - Thanks for being... - Truly, Dion

P.S. Be patient w/ me, I'll make my way through all three - Thanks again -

interesting though, this is not one of my more polished productions, it has
