This is terrific &mdash 03/19/06 - 11:47:41 AM
I think it is one of my favs. The singing really goes along with the tune
quite well. That high end singis is something to behold. I really like it.
Gad, I thought it sounded like a cross between Maddona, and FB.

To be hones I am really knocked out by the very impressive singing. And
it couldn't of been pulled off without gorgeous backround!

Way to go u2!

It just keeps &mdash 03/19/06 - 01:40:51 PM
on changing. This is an excellent version! I really like that singing Amboo, and I totally agree with thetiler about the Madonna / Fairy Beth sound. Nice going!

I'm a little torn on this one. Drak's original had some subtleties that
aren't evident in this version. While the singing is appropriately paced
and in-tune, I think the tune could really benefit from a change in the
vox velocity--some quieter parts to add a better dynamic. I think this
Ember could be called the Trance Mix. Personally, the resonance that
runs consistently throughout on the synth tracks gets awfully grating,
but take that with a grain because I'm not a huge fan of "trance"
timbres -- I would have liked to hear something warmer (sine pads?)
that weave in and out of that. I love the percussion addition - I think
the syncopation of it is perfect! However, it seems kinda static in there,
like it needs some fill work to highlight the changes coming or chords
changing. But all in all, I do like this version. It's cool to hear yet
another version of this tune-Keep 'em coming! Nice work you two!

Thanks everyone! &mdash 03/20/06 - 06:42:45 PM
Just wanted to say thanks for all the kind words and feedback everyone. This was definitely a fun piece to work on. I always enjoy taking things that are a certain way and making them completely different. When I showed the 2 versions to a friend their reaction was... "Wait, that was the same music?" I alway appreciate shock and awe, lol. Anyways, thanks everyone!

whoops... what happened? i left a comment here!

i was trying to say that i agreed with MC that i'd like to hear some more
dynamic variation in this. other than that...

but i do like it. your voice is great, amboo... production, composition i
think is great, drak.

As I read the comments .... &mdash 03/21/06 - 04:39:29 PM
I note a lot of people commenting on the vocals .... I actually had a hard time "hearing" the vocals .... to me it sounded like they got totally lost in the mix .... and there was a certain amount of "static sounding hiss" I kept hearing which sort of drowned out both the music and the vocals ... I am a great fan of al the embers ... I like this version ... just wish it were a little clearer

Thank you from the Ember guy &mdash 03/23/06 - 02:18:41 PM
Thank you everyone for commenting! After I listened to it and had
MissChaos get a sneak peek, we agreed that Amboo's vox should be
brought forward a bit... however, it turned out to be a rather bad time to
interrupt her and ask her to tweak it, so I went ahead and posted her mp3
as-is. Possibly we can pester her to remix it for the CD :)

Not quite the rockin' energy of your stuff... I am glad it got you to sit back and
relax a little :-) Thank you for checking out Amboo's variation on my theme,
fellow dragon.

Hi Atonalis, glad you enjoyed it, hope Amboo stops by again to see the
comments on her version of this. You may want to listen to my original "Ember
Rekindled", and a few other versions, to get an idea of the wide variation of
places it has travelled with the creative talents of people like Mystified, Mungo,
Alannah, Av1oder, TaylornMorgan, Woodguy, RSchletty, etc. All the versions
(that I know of) are linked off my artist page. Thank you for stopping in and
commenting!

Nice track. Like the vocals. It's neat to see so many different things done
with the same canvas.

Thanks Christopher! I think she did a good job here. Hey, I would have
expected you to comment on the moody photo I took there. :)

Great &mdash 04/07/06 - 05:59:19 AM
I love the swirling synth parts. Very prog-rock. Very "Styx."

Lyrics are bitter, but we've all been there, and they are real-life.

The singer is top-notch. Sounds a lot like Sheena Easton, who sang
the title song to the Bond film, "For Your Eyes Only" (1981).

Excellent all-around.

Voice another instrument &mdash 09/08/06 - 06:53:58 AM
I really like all the Ember around here. The intro voice is heart-blowing(?) I
can agree that the lyrics could come forth a bit, but if you just listen to it
as another instrument it works just nice for me. Thanks!
