Description:
The song was one good thing that came out of a tough time....
Tanx to my friend Dabe (whom I love} for the great drum trax
Lyrics:
MY HOPE REMAINS IT MAKES NO SENSE
IT STANDS AFTER MY LAST DEFENSE
HAS BLOWN AWAY AND LEFT ME STANDING BARE
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
MY HOPE REMAINS A FAITHFUL FRIEND
A GUIDE WHEN I CAN’T SEE THE END
HALF WAY HOME, SOMETIMES IN DESPAIR
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
MY HOPE IS THERE IT WILL FOLLOW ME EVERYWHERE
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
THE PILGRIM IS BLIND, THE PILGRAMS SEES!
THE PILGRIM GETS DOWN ON HIS KNEES
EACH STEP HOME IS FOUND ON EVERY PRAYER
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
MY HOPE IS THERE IT WILL FOLLOW ME EVERYWHERE
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
MY HOPE REMAINS IT MAKES NO SENSE
IT STANDS AFTER MY LAST DEFENSE
HAS BLOWN AWAY AND LEFT ME STANDING BARE
MY HOPE IS THERE... MY HOPE... MY HOPE IS THERE
EVERYWHERE ALWAYS THERE
EVERYWHERE ALWAYS THERE
EVERYWHERE ALWAYS THERE

Now this is... &mdash 03/19/06 - 02:57:58 PM
...*exactly* what I wanted to hear tonight!
Everything sounds so great - especially your voice! I would kill for a
singing voice like yours (I won't, though - don't worry).
Just to reiterate - *everything* about this is great!
Thank you for sharing this and fulfilling my musical needs this evening.
Beautiful! [ Reply to This ]

Eliptical &mdash 03/20/06 - 03:47:13 AM
Scott, your music is fully professional in every sense. Great voice, great
arrangements, professionally recorded (this is from a CD?), and beautiful
song writing. It's Christian-based music with a gentle, subjective feel,
and, as someone else said about another song of yours, you avoid being
preachy. The spiritual references are eliptical, allowing the listener to find
other meanings if s/he wishes, and inviting the listener in, rather than
yelling at them that "this" (whatever "this" is) is the way it is. I spent years
playing in and eventually leading church bands, and this is as good as
anything we ever played. Beautiful stuff. [ Reply to This ]
thank you clark &mdash 03/20/06 - 04:02:13 AM
No CD ... this is just the stuff i write coming out of my Mac... I've produced
CD's for other people in my home studio... I guess that's where I'm learning
how to get sounds... thank you for the thoughtful comments, it means alot to
me... I don't even play my material live, and to see the response it gets makes
me wonder if I should rethink this... I also lead the music in my church, I
really enjoy the whole process
thanx again [ Reply to This ]

So many good things to say, especially your vocals (you have such an
appealing voice) and backing vocals arrangement (could have been even
louder in the mix at times). But I really like the drumming choices you
made on this one. Kind of a James Taylor feel, which I adore. But the last
verse is so precious, goodness, and then they way you rise out of it again.
Very nice finishing touches on this one. [ Reply to This ]
Where the Spirit... &mdash 03/20/06 - 07:17:56 PM
finds its voice, there is joy.
It's always a pleasure to hear it when it occurs, as it has in this song.
You've done an excellent all-around job here with the arrangement,
performance and production, Scott. I hear strains suggesting the melodic
vocal arrangements of Jackson Browne, as well as James Taylor in this
song, but while mainitaining the integrity of your own voice.
Very nicely done. ;-) [ Reply to This ]
How willing are you .... &mdash 03/21/06 - 03:07:39 PM
to lend a helping hand to some of us sad sacks here ... (OK I mean ME .... with the "production / mixing" secrets you obviously use on your mixes ..... I would never know these songs of yours did not come out of a professional recording studio ..... shhhhhhh but ... you are giving away for free what people would pay for here ! [ Reply to This ]

Well Done &mdash 03/23/06 - 10:27:46 AM
Ahhh, a true 9. A wonderfully crafted piece that really conveys your
sincerity; it's very genuine. Again, your voice is full and strong, but sits
nicely with the harmonies, and I love hearing real instruments.
Everything else has been said already...
One thing I'll point out is that at the end of the song there is a noise
that you may want to consider muting if you can.
Thanks for posting! [ Reply to This ]
Noise?? &mdash 03/23/06 - 03:26:33 PM
Is it as the song is fading... the last thing you hear.... I don't know how I
missed that
thanx [ Reply to This ]
Noise?? &mdash 03/23/06 - 09:57:55 PM
I just listened again. It's the very last thing you hear, and it could have been intentional. It just caught my ear...
BTW, the song was just as good on the second listen.

This is really nice to listen to &mdash 03/24/06 - 11:52:42 AM
It's a reflection of someone who's been through a few things and is still
confident. You use your voice so well to convey your message. The
production is also stellar. [ Reply to This ]
A big phat wow from me &mdash 03/24/06 - 08:07:49 PM

AAhh yes...Dabe &mdash 03/25/06 - 05:52:52 AM
I'm glad you asked... let me tell you about dave,,, my youngest son called
him dabe when he was a baby... Dave played piano for the president, at the
white house when he was 12 yrs old...He is a session player (bass guitar) I've
used him on several trax of my own (Violin) (drums) (keys) (bass) ect... and
every instrument he picks up, you think that must be his main gig... So a guy
like that must have sold his soul and gone to the dark side, right... not so...
when your done playin, He's the one you want to hang with... He's so
humble... he loves to laugh... He won't talk about him...it's "how are you
doin?" He has never charged me for a track although he makes his living doin
this... and He makes you feel like you might be talented (except when you
watch him play)... anyway "drums are his hobby"
He is the epicenter of anything musical in my area, and you will never
heard a bad word about him.. I'm about 15 yrs older than Dave and I want to
grow up to be just like him.... Dave I hope you read this, or maybe I'll send
you a card
you'll never meet anyone like him, and if anyone wants a serious demo... I'll
hook you up with him [ Reply to This ]
Another fine tune &mdash 04/16/06 - 07:55:39 AM
This is such a great production... A great way to start an Easter Morning.
Love your tunes and once again this is just outstanding. Lot's of heart on
this. I too keep my hope there and it follows me through all the troubles
especially through some recent trying times. Thanks for sharing.

GET OUT THERE!!!! &mdash 07/29/06 - 05:28:27 PM
I'm amazed you don't perform these live! You sound so comfortable with the mic I bet you could command the stage. I'd be in line for a ticket!

GET OUT THERE!!!! &mdash 07/30/06 - 10:14:07 AM
thank you Mike
I spent the 80 on the road...(hair band)... my writing matured later in life...
I'm not sure I would want to perform any of the older stuff... and I enjoy
writing and arranging more than performimg... when I pick up my guitar and
play these songs, it sounds like something is missing when i don't have back
vox and a band... I always hear the poduction version in my head [ Reply to This ]
hey Scott &mdash 04/17/07 - 12:07:16 AM
This song came at the right time. Its funny how Macjams has helped me out of a few emotional spots.
You sent me a note as did another fellow MJer who was down.
My friend was being knocked down by some life cercumstances and i sent some words to try to help... then i opened your note... and decided to open another Scott tune... and 'My Hope' jumped out off the page as if sent from above.
I'll send the link over to my brother and Hope will arrive.
Thanx for this and all your tunes...I'll be back to explore!
Peace
