Keywords:
word (8)now (9)acoustic (460)folky (4)foghorn (14)
Description:
Another acoustic number from the demo cave...not sure what this song is actually about...a bit cryptic really

Lyrics:
Your words come tumbling down
They seem to be laced with hidden anger
I tried so hard, to play the joker card
Don't say the word is now

The crimes were left unpunished
The tears were left unshed
The story ends up elsewhere
Don't say the word is now

And you, you saw it coming
You slowly turned to run
And I am left in your trail
I stumble and I fall

They say the truth becomes clear
When the victor takes their spoils
but I would rather have you here with me
Don't say the word is now

Exciting! &mdash 03/20/06 - 11:46:36 AM
Its so exciting everyone time you post a new song. Cause i for some reason know what I am gonna get, still there is always something new. The chorus on this is extremely beautiful! Very nice playing as always. I think your voice has become soft as silk during the last years! Great tune!

Too Good &mdash 03/20/06 - 03:59:55 PM
I'm glad this one escaped the demo cave when the troll wasn't looking!
I think this is one of your nicest songs Steve! Fantastic melody, guitar
playing and the lyrics are very poetic and interesting. There was a
feeling that I was listening to an undiscovered Beatles song.

Let more stuff out of the demo cave.
I'm curious to know if you plan on doing more with this.
I hear this as potentailly being part of a cycle of songs between a man and
a woman.

Thanks Mungo! Yes I may revisit this one at some point or get one of my friends
to record it perhaps...at the moment my focus is more on song craft than
elaborate production which is why there are so spany sparse acoustic tracks
being put up. I do plan to spend some serious time getting to grips with LE7
production in the near future though.
Thanks for listening in and taking the time to comment!

I think the songcraft is more important too, that's one of the reasons why I enjoy your work.

one of your best &mdash 03/21/06 - 11:51:06 PM
Steve, this has a Richard Thompson touch to it - and I don't
understand what a lot of his songs are about either :) I agree that this
is one of your best, and especially like the doubled parts (I was going
to say harmony, then realised you hadn't done one, although it sounds
like you had) - lots of extra depth here. The guitar work is especially
nicely done, and I really like the chord changes you've used. If I was
guiding your musical career, I'd say "do more in this vein" - liked it!

enjoyed this! &mdash 03/27/06 - 03:51:42 PM
soulful and rich voice. nice harmonies, although I thought the guitar
was a little too far back in the mix. tasty solo, and cool progression.

vocal quality &mdash 03/27/06 - 11:09:37 PM
The quality of the vocals in your last couple of posts has been especially
nice. Your range is unusual but that is what makes your voice unique and
memorable. This track is soothing and extra easy on the ears.btw ,I never
worried about what a song meant till I started posting them here.

A real gem &mdash 03/29/06 - 02:39:33 PM
... of a song with an interesting chord progression and a wonderful chorus where you double up the vocals. You have a superb rich voice that blends perfectly with the sparse guitar accompaniment here. Maybe just a demo but great as is.

Very Good &mdash 03/31/06 - 05:34:39 PM
Very good song. Your presentation was clean and precise without hysterics. It actually makes the lyrics more powerful when you don't scream them like a banshee with a brain tumor like so many "singers" try to do these days.

Sorry for the little rant.

Guitar is very nice and the doubled vocal is a good touch also. Well done, Steve.

This is So Beautiful..!!!love Your guitar & voice Acustic is REALLY WONDERFUL...reminds me of being young sitting by campfires always someone who had a guitar & was playing...singing...having a few beer... I've always wondered if People who play know how much they /it means for(to?) us other 'handicapped' people ! Cause thats how I always felt-handicapped cause I can't play an instrument.. never to late to learn I guess, everything has its time in Life.. Thisgot me shedding some tears..:) ThankYou Steve
