and the singing and the guitar playing.
On the production side, the bass sounds indistinct and woofy.

I've seen this happen more and more over the US over the last 20+ years.
When I vacation, I normally travel using the old US highways that existed before
the interstates. I've seen many parts of the US that I knew slowly being replaced
and the parts that aren't being replaced are being abandoned to rot to dust
(especially in towns that depended on one industry and that goes away).
I don't consider progress a bad thing per se, things change. It's the damned
uniformity of it all - every 50 miles, its a Wal-Mart and a McDonalds. If it's not
that it's a K-Mart and a Burger King. IT ALL LOOKS THE SAME. I'll end my rant
here.

Thanks for the comment. I like Old 61 better than my other submissions and it
was good to finally see a comment on it. My singing leaves much to be desired
though. The day that I wrote it, I had a cold which probably helped more than it
hurt.

it is so kooky and i really dig the abrupt ending. i wish the vocals were more "present". im not much at the technical side but i think you need a little closer mic-ing. you should continue the story, how about if old jim burns down the wal mart then does his dime with a grin?
