Description:
This song is about the simple affection of a child who's forced to grow up without his dad. Sometimes people don't feel like they can cope with the pressure of parenthood and find it easier to run away. They think that their kid will resent them for every little mistake they make. What they don't realise is that the kid just wants his dad.

It's about spending your entire childhood growing up and waiting for your dad to come home and complete the family and the feeling that you must have done something wrong to make their daddy go away...

Lyrics:
When I'm older will you sit me down and tell me why you weren't around?
I drew a picture of you and me, would you like to see?

Were you really so scared to admit defeat again?
While your little boy stood waiting for his Dad in the rain.
Are you ever coming back again?

Another birthday card, another ten pound note.
When are you next coming round?
Did you get the letter I wrote?

Mummy helped me with the writing but the words are mine.
It took me ages to write it but I took my time.
I tried to stay inside the lines.

Were you really so scared to admit defeat again?
While your little boy stood waiting for his Dad in the rain.
Are you ever coming back again?

At night my dreams would wake me.
Why would you have forsaken me?
What did I do to make you mad?
When all I wanted was my Dad.
How could you have left me behind?
I wanted you to go and find a place where we could be together...

But are you ever coming back?
Are you ever coming back?

When I'm older will you sit me down and tell me why you weren't around?

You said you'd meet me after school.
I'm still waiting....

good job getting that feeling across. the distant voices and sax work
great. the word dad in "While your little boy stood waiting for his DAD
in the rain is a little awkward but so is this little boys feelings to him. i
have a one and a half yearold and have been writing a lot of songs that
have been inspired by his presents and i know what it is like to not
have a dad. mine died but the feeling can be the same. i wrote a song
about it a while back
