I really dig the drumming especially on this track. Great
music composition; I really like the changing meter, the
way it flows into each phrase. Is that you on organ? 4
ADATs, wow. Very exciting concept. (Sopranos should
sing rock music more often.)

Rock on &mdash 06/05/04 - 12:49:34 PM
I was very lucky to have an excellent drummer basically at my disposal during
the writing of the music. I would take newly concieved music right to Chad
and we'd jam it out until it worked perfectly. Fortunately for me, he didn't
have much going on that year!!! And yes...that's me on organ...one of the few
parts I played since our 1st keyboard player was so much better than me!!

sounds like an exciting project. tobin's right about the drumming, fantastic, making sense of a tough meter with ease. the the song kind of stops. you must have been working with Equity actors they way the break for half an hour (or 24?) at then end, before the songs sounds done. (you should post the lyrics!) too bad you can't rerecord this stuff with rock singers! it has great potential.

Thanks guys! Suzanne - this clip ends where it does because I cut it there. In reality the piece goes pretty much non-stop for over 2 hours (excluding an intermission!). The actors were certainly equity quality but not equity fortunately or we'd never been able to do it! :)

Score &mdash 02/11/05 - 06:45:19 AM
Weird that the high point of rock operas was Superstar
and that they never rose to that level again. I think what
made it work was the great lyrics, the humor and clarity of
performances capture on tape by the best in Britain at the
time. (Deep Purple was never the same.) This is a totally
cool genre that there should be way more of. Post your
whole score, man. Put htat soprano in some Industrial
tracks and really spiced things up!
