Under Electric Light

Description
A poppy acoustic song with guitars, piano, bass, conga percussion and chanting vocals. About the confidence-giving power of the night.

This is a new version of a song I posted about a month back. There were some rhythm issues that I needed to work out near the end and I think it's much improved.

Lyrics
I love you more than you will know
But I can only let it show
beneath the streetlight's sedating glow
with words that obsure the meaning
oh I love you more than you will know

Have you ever noticed we only talk at night?
Well I feel boldest under electric light.

i like this a lot. Its got a good dreamy feel and hynotic rhythm thing happening. Not so fond of the rag time piano break, but I know why it's there.

Mellow...
I hear some kinda high pitched hum coming through.....the whole thing sounds a little lo-fi and muffled--was this intentional? What's your hardware setup? For example, the piano is really soft and buried back in there somewhere. I do like your vocal harmonies, your singing style, and your voice in general. Its got a real natural, dreamy quality that I think you are capitalizing on appropriately in a song like this...

Most of the songs here are collaborations with my friend Jono Newton recorded in New Hampshire in January '04. Then I spent the fall of '05 studying abroad in Buenos Aires where I recorded a couple tracks on my laptop without vocals. Luckily, the t... [see more]
