Say it isn't so! &mdash 03/30/06 - 02:37:22 PM
Life without coffee? Congratulations... you're stronger than I, it runs in
my veins, the secret of why dragon's blood is black.
This is great, two pieces back to back from you. I like the metaphorical
start, heading me off in the wrong direction, then beginning to explain
where you were really going... the wonderful Roxylee storytelling I've
enjoyed.
Short and sweet and the little twist. Brava!

Yup, it was time. Say... I thought your blood ran black because of the Kahlua??
<G> Thank you for your kind comments. :-)

"Quitting smoking is easy... I've done it thousands of times!" -- Mark Twain
I am very glad you've kicked the habit, you'll feel much better.
As for black dragon blood, yes, there is some Kahlua in there too. My secret is
out... I mix my stimulants with depressants, and come out in well-tempered
scales. :-)

Congrats on your victory! Your storytelling is, as usual, superb; your voice
sweet and soft, yet with the strength to endure. You, indeed, have a rare
gift.
God bless you,
Rick

Hah! &mdash 03/31/06 - 12:21:51 AM
Brilliant. Funny. I quit for three months once. Numerous other times
also---but not for as long.
There's a tune by the Bottle Rockets this puts me in mind of. It has a great
line that goes: "Wish this Monkey would set me free/My teeth are stained
permanently/Go to bed at two wake up at three/Man this caffiene is
killing me!"
Well done, Rox! [ Reply to This ]
Hah! &mdash 03/31/06 - 07:05:24 AM
Well, I'd tried quitting on my own, too, but this time it was different. One
night during prayer time I told the Lord I didn't want to be dependent on
anyone or anything but Him. He gently told me I was dependent on caffeine
and He told me not to make any coffee the next morning (be careful what you
pray for, folks). <G> I lay awake, breaking out in a sweat, trying to tell myself
I hadn't really heard that, but I knew *I* didn't come up with that idea. The
next morning I said "OK, Lord, I'll obey You, but You've got to give me the
strength." Which He did. I had a wicked headache for three or four days,
which helped me to see I was truly addicted to caffeine. I know the strength
comes from the Lord, because I can brew a pot for guests and not want any.

Yeah, if composing isn't fun, we can just go read a boring book. <G>

I feel like a liar now and should probably yank this, as I gave in to the coffee again. I should try quitting again, especially after just doing THAT collab. lol [ Reply to This ]
