What's taking so long for folks to comment on this little jewel &mdash 03/31/06 - 08:38:38 PM
I will be back to comment more - This yet another an amazing little
gem you've got here. I don't know how I get such kudos on percussion
- As I can recall, you're the one who consistently to creates what I
consider to be more of masterful sounding arrangement of hand
drums. The percussion here is warm, natural and pleasing to my ear - I
actually collect and play them. And warm natural are what's to be
reflected here... Your ivory work is also to be commended -
verrrrrrrrrry sweet - This is indeed a tasty aural treat.
It's very nice to hear that you're back and sharing your music, here sir.
- Thank you - And yes, kudos to you for doing such a fine job. You are
trained I believe, but you are quite gifted too - Thanks for sharing that
gift - Truly - Dion [ Reply to This ]

It seems as though you are the first to comment on a large number of the
songs submitted to this site, Dion. I attribute that fact to your generous
nature. Thank you from all of us for that.
Your being so percussion-aware, I'm pleased to hear you like the rhythm
track of this song. It's very enjoyable creating a groove with the percussion
instruments available. Glad you like the piano, too.
I consider what you said a very nice compliment, for which thank you very
much, but what you're hearing is perseverance, rather than training, which
I've had only in choral conducting (and two semesters of piano lessons).
Thank you again for your nice comment, Dion. I'm only one of many who are
pleased and even inspired to know our music connects with you.

one statement and then return to finish, but changed my mind and completed

groovin... &mdash 03/31/06 - 09:33:56 PM
tasty nearly-middle-eastern jazzy thingie... would you like one hump or
two? I dunno, at first, it does start out feeling desert-like, then the pan-
pipes and that cool melody give it more of a Bolivian feel... and then the
jazz piano comes in and takes us somewhere else entirely. This is very
delightfully rich-sounding music. Well balanced, except for one nit pick,
there's a synth pad that seems to be panned a little heavily on the right
side and is distracting, feels like it should be closer to center, or spread
out. But the little solos with the guitar, piano, pipes, are all gorgeous.
And yes, you're giving Dion, Mister rhythm, a run for his money here.

groovin... &mdash 04/04/06 - 12:24:37 AM
Eduard, thanks for the close listen and informed comment - I went back to the
file and realized that I had used two sounds for one of the pads, panned hard
left and right. I subsequently decided that the sound of the synth that was
panned left was too harsh, and the other synth was really sufficient by itself, so I
muted the left synth, but neglected to center the right synth. I couldn't hear it,
even with headphones - that was quite a catch by you. Very impressive
listening, there, Mr. Drakonis, and the fact that you paid that much attention is
greatly appreciated, as are your kind words.

indeed... ziti's right. Just wow. First of all, I'm completely floored by the soundbed, those strings and percussion--powerful and expansive, with divine, subtle touches. Then the flute sounds really good and then the piano comes in and brings the soundscape to a completely new level. I love that piano, as well as the other soloing instruments in there. What you're doing tonally is pure magic, magic I don't fully understand, but really enjoy. Beautiful music. [ Reply to This ]

The expansive feel of a New Age Safari. Clean and controlled and warmly

youre a very talented musician... frankly though, i was a little
dissapointed with the progression... the part before the flute comes in
is very mysterious sounding... and the bass that accompanies the flute
really contributes well, but frankly, i was anticipating something a little
different... i think this is definately a good piece, but i was a little
suprised where it took me, and i was hoping that the vibe i got in the
very beginning would be consistant throught the song... dont take it
personally though please, this is a lot better than i could do... oh and
that guitar part at around the halfway point of the song is very
interesting and relaxing...

I guess that's what mystifies me about New Age Jazz like this. I'm so
pleased to hear how brilliantly you've meshed the acoustic and synthetic
voices. There are so many colors and textures in this, I'm audibly
overwhelmed. (that's a good thing!) Just when I was expecting a certain
change-up, you steer away to something completely different. This has a
certain Andreas Vollenweider feel. The resolution on the last chord... the
major key... is lovely. Great production & fantastic playing. [ Reply to This ]

I'm grateful you enjoy the unpredictability - it's as if you are allowing me to take
you somewhere with me, and the fact that you don't know where that will be is

I love the texture of this tune and the weaving of the sounds. I seem to hear a little Dave Grusin in your piano licks, no? Especially in the 2nd verse, after the piano solo. I love it. Also a little Rippingtons?
Everything sits so nicely in the mix - it just flows and all the instruments seems to be in exactly the right spot. Real guitar or Midi? The guitar solo sounds a little like a midi guitar, but it is very convincing and the guitar in the background really shines.
Just a great piece of music - thanks. [ Reply to This ]

gem you've got here.

It's very nice to hear that you're back and sharing your music, here sir.
