This is the overture from a ballet I recently wrote called Romeo and Juliet in Mantua. This is a rehearsal recording I did on my Mac.

Wow
Very nice music. I liked the slow/fast alternating pace, the passing of the
melody between the violin & viola, and the longing that the music evokes.
Is that the entire overture? Of course, being a rehearsal recording, I
expected the quality to be so-so, and it wasn't too bad... the fact that you
had real musicians performing this is pretty exciting. Do you have the
whole ballet written out yet? Will we hear more music from this?

Wow
Thanks for the compliments. I've fortunate that all of my music has been
performed live. The whole Ballet was premiered at the Joyce Theatre in NYC July
2005, with choreography by my friend Davis Robertson. I may submit another
movement from the work shortly, after some quick edits to the sound quality
(another live rehearsal).
Just so you know, the premise of the piece is that Romeo and Juliet survive, and
after escaping to Mantua their relationship falls apart. They are only teenagers.
Romeo is dealing with the death of his best friend, and Juliet the separation
from the family, and at the end of the Ballet one is left to wonder if the two will
actually stay together.
The piece was a comment on modern marriages.

Wow
Very intriguing spin on the story, I really like that idea! Congratulations on
having it performed, too!
