The energy of sorrow &mdash 04/04/06 - 07:48:51 AM
Really dug it. Very nice details throughout. I'd like to know all the
players, singers, lyrics, and other aspects of your collaborative process.
Song great performances here, wonderful energy, great pacing. So nice.

The energy of sorrow &mdash 04/04/06 - 06:01:26 PM
Glad you asked. My typical collaboration process involves me recieving a stereo scratch track (with some guitar or something playing a melody line) Panned either FULL left or right.... and a click track at the bpm for the song panned all the way to the other side. it allows me to adjust the vol levels of each while tracking. I preferr a wma file for tracking ).. BUT I understand this is a mac site so an aiff or wav will do just as well. I DO NOT want to track to an mp3 file because the conversion process adds a millisecond to the file (at the beginning) and it can easily screw up the mixdowns when you go to add the seperates all together.... as some will have these millisecond and some will not SOOO you end up sliding parts all around to get them to fit together. and that usually leads to someone being slid OUT of TIME.

as far as the players on this song. Jaimee Harris is the singer... she's only 15 years old. Her father Chris Harris (who has written MOST of the songs she's tracked, sings the backing vox). Mark Buster WROTE and played the guitars on this one. Tjarko played Bass... . Jaimee and her Father are from Taxas, Not sure of Mark's exact location. Tjarko is from the Netherlands.
You can hear a cd that we've completed (as well as many more songs) at.... http://www.betteroffdad.com/mp3.htm

This freakin' rocks! &mdash 04/05/06 - 10:30:28 AM
Production values are top-notch, singing and playing all dead-on in pitch and intensity---you should have a recording contract! It doesn't get any more professional-sounding than this!

Why isn't this on the radio &mdash 04/05/06 - 11:25:12 AM
Fantastic song. A perfect rock song.

You've shared with us the other artists' names on this track, but more info about the production side of things would really help inspire and teach us here on MJ's. What was the equipment used, software, etc.?

And if you can post the lyrics, too, please.

Awesome.

Complete Professionalism &mdash 04/06/06 - 09:13:21 AM
Wow!! Without a doubt the most professional quality track that I've heard on MJ to date! This could easily be on a new rock station getting a LOT of airplay. Hard to believe the vocalist is only 15!

Keep this stuff coming and I will keep listening!

Thanks for the music!

Nothing new%u2026 &mdash 04/06/06 - 05:49:55 PM
%u2026 to add to all the comments you've received already, so I'll just repeat a
few, such as, "WOW!", "she's only 15?" etc. Everything fits perfectly, it's a
good song, but for me, it's the vocalist that really blows me away. Very
powerful.

Are you going to post the lyrics?

Sorry about not responding earlier.. my schedule is JAM Packed aieht collaborations and work.. this is just a hobby for me.. By trade I'm an Air Traffic Controller...

I've been blessed to have found some extremely Talented folks with whom I collaborate. MANY MANY folks that is.... I continuously look for the nmost talented folks I can find.

I can't post the lyrics without listening to them and writing them all out for you .... would prolly be easier you you to do than than I.. I only had a scratch track to track to when I did the drums for this..

as far as the mixing/post production.. I can't comment a whole lot on that .... I provided a mixdown ( that I did) of my drums (all together) to Chris.. (Jaimee's dad) and he took it from there... He had the rest of the tracks and I wasn't able (cause he's in Texas and I'm in Kansas)... to get involved in the mastering process..

He's a lawyer and it's VERY difficult to get in touch with him. So when I' AM able to chat I keep our conversation about all business ya know.

This song...in my brain... it can't seem to, er, Fall Away... &mdash 04/06/06 - 06:38:55 PM
This is an awesome song in every aspect of performance and production.
I just might break my self-imposed restriction of giving too many tens for
any one song. This song rules! That 15-year old girl is deceivingly
young. She has vocal maturity and an enviable range, and her ability to
sing a rock song with such great feeling defies the stereotypes of youth.
As for the rest of the performers... all I can say is, what are you waiting
for? Go on tour already! If ever, I'll be waiting at Ticketmaster.
