Transgender Cowboy

Description
A real s**t-kicker of a song. Country-influenced, but the four-part harmonies in the chorus give it an eclectic feel. Fans of the band Ween's country excursion will find it familiar territory.

Lyrics
Let me tell y'all a story
Let me tell y'all a tale
It's gettin' hard out on the range, boy
It's gettin' hard out on the trail

I get so lonely in the moonlight
No longer ride the plains with Dale
He left me in the dust because well
I'm neither male nor a female

When I get to the rodeo and I
Do some ropin'
No one takes me seriously cause I
Start disrobin'

Cause I'm a transgender cowboy
I'm ridin' with a purse on
I'm a transgender cowboy
Did I say boy? I meant person

No one will ride with me in Carson
No one will ride with me in Butte
My house got torched they think it's arson
I wish someone would think I'm cute

They say I'm nothing like Clint Eastwood
They say I'm nothing like John Wayne
I'm driftin' like a piece of beachwood
My name is Tom or is it Jane?

When I get to the rodeo, and I
Do some ropin'
No one takes me seriously cause I
Start disrobin'

Cause I'm a transgender cowboy
I'm ridin' with a purse on
I'm the transgender cowboy
Did I say boy? I meant person.

You know with taste there's no accountin'
I hate to hear it but they say
That I can't even get none on Brokeback Mountain
So I'll ride into the sunset every day

nice
Nice and shining sound from the acoustics. It sounds like some interesting lyrics, would be cool if you posted them.

Interesting
I don't normally listen to this style of music, but I figured I'd go have a listen when you mentioned it in chat. A very nice sound.

Your vocals are just fine, but what might be interesting to try sometime is to find one of those rare androgynous singers in the tenor/alto range.

FAB ..

best bits are when the harmony kicks in pre-chorus and chorus ..
and great chorus .. it's the guitar and rhythm change there that just
sits so well !

One change I'd suggest.. the end of the chorus:
use the chorus that has the
'damn I meant person' - it works much, much better ... or even
vary that last 'punch-line' so to speak for greater effect.

Just my thoughts ..

PS. for some reason I think of 'King of the Road' -- that might be
your vocal, so pay no heed.
