Description
Here's another of my old Switched-On versions of the classics, only this one has an Oriental sound. It's a short piano piece written in about 1894 by Tony Dvorak, the first of his 8 Humoresques. During the ASCAP music strike of 1944, big bands took to playing the more popular Humoresque No.7 in G-flat -- they're both in the public domain-- but I like this one better.
During his stay in the USA, Dvorák acquired the nickname "Doc Borax." Despite the popularity of his music, he was cheated by the music industry and died in poverty. (Nothing has changed since then.)
