Yes! Soundtrack...
to a great Sci-Fi flick. PV, you do an excellent job layering all kinds of
futuristic yet strangely aboriginal sounds over your tight but somewhat
abstract drum/bass groove. This is creative and very well mixed. It evokes
many odd and tantalizing images.

And, "Lo, and behold, there, were...."
The very survivors of the age they had left, thinking that humanity could not ever survive its own self-destructive inclination. Like themselves, they had indeed made it through the time, and upon their arrival at return were able to communicate directly with them in the same root language of music they had themselves maintained by tradition. No barriers were encountered, as the music and sound contained the secret formula of the cosmos...

So later that evening, together they danced about the circle of fire and sent back the message of welcome home.

Oh, and this is another excellent piece of work from you, I've listened over and over, and over.

Thanks for sharing.

Hey right on, repeat listens! That's the spirit, I like the dancing around the
circle of fire. You're more optimistic than I, I suppose... but hey, who knows
what'll happen thousands of years out? Thanks Harold!

Hahahaha Heeheeee - ahhh -- I wonder what I think about this..

Put yer shades on...

You already know...

My entire body is grinning - I need stretch panties - heehee - Some
smiles just aren't meant to be witnessed in public spaces...

Love the phat assed chunky bass - The drums - you've fired off some
crazy good drum works before, but this is a percussive study in and of
itself - some subtle, and obviously, some not so subtle goodness
being shared here - some WILD fun - we like it like that -- A very nice
job of mixing and a well balanced sound you ended up with. This
seems to be a habit... - I LOVE the attention to detail in this one; the
woodwinds or synth moments; the fx and all the way down and
through to the end, where we have a lesson on, 'how to shut this
motha down'... I hope no one walks in on me before it's over again...

Thank you my friend - Again, you do your part in making me love this
place... Dion

Heheh, thanks for kraken me up, Dion--now we know definitively that, yes,
it is possible to like a song too much. Haha! Just joshing you, I'm glad you
dig this and thanks for your extra kind comments. It was a blast mixing this,
and once I had the bass and drums figured out, it seemed like there were
almost too many possible avenues to explore... but I tried to keep a
uniform character throughout. And thanks again about the artwork...made
from two photos and several Photoshop filters. This was a case where I
made the art as I was mixing the song, so I think they reflect each other
well.

Space Faring Gypsies...
...crash land at the home of Billy Cobham's robotic clone and have one
hell of a jam. Wicked. I might have tried to bring some of the
instruments more to the front here and there, alternating with the ever
driving drums, but other than that, this really nails it. What the hell do I
know anyway, you've mixed my best stuff. Nice work.

I like that image. Cobham could maybe pull off this crazy drumming. I

improve on. Thanks for the kind words, Aqui. Maybe we should do

Your ability...
...to program drums, David, blows my flippin' mind...

They can be so complicated, but they ALWAYS sound human... I really
visualize a human sitting at a kit when I hear them...

Then your bass programming takes it to the next level...

I'm reading a book about producing the Beatles today, and so the
backwards sounding loopy stuff strikes a responsive chord...

Your ability...
Heheh, ok so I was one of the people who actually spun some of the
Beatles songs backwards to hear what they used. By the way "Number
9" backwards sounds to me more like "honey on lemon" than "turn me on
dead man". I appreciate that about the drums and bass--in this case they
are all samples of live playing (from Bass on Demand and Drums on
Demand)... I like that realness too (so thank you awesome studio
musicians!), and I also can't help but vizualize a human sitting at a kit when
I assemble these songs. That's really much of the appeal to me. Perhaps,
being a drummer myself, I kind of approach these tunes as drum solos +
embellishments. Thank you, Ed!

Crazy!
That DoD work is amazing David - only a drummer could do that I
suspect. Amazing combination of sounds and ideas in this crazy track
- excellent tune for a soundtrack, but there's considerably more - the
alien "voices" I hear around 3/4 the way through are real attention
grabbers. But it's a silly concept really - I mean how on earth would
there ever be a "post-human" period? Some idiot would have to
destroy the world or something for that to ever happen!
Peace,

Heheh, yes, truly I like to delve into the crazy. Alright consider the
non-crazy alternative, wherein humanity simply expands across the stars,
and a comet wipes out civilization on Earth. The spacebound people
become hopelessly modified prosthetically and biochemically, enhancing
themselves to an extreme where they no longer can really be called human.
Alternately some idiot could destroy the world... seems less crazy every
day, doesn't it? Thanks for the compliments Neil. I'm glad you like the way
I mixed up those drumming samples.

Thanks Stun, I really appreciate that! I think this is among my best too, especially if you don't count the songs where I had guitarists to make the song good. I was very pleased to make such an outrageous rhythm section. As for repeating 'fine', well I encounter that problem myself, so I keep a checklist of adjectives here to avoid that. Not.

The beat is rolling and has a bit of an unexpected cut off, gives the whole

SUSPENSE
Oh yeah, a movie would be great. It's not that far fetched--once my interests phase back from music to videos, I'm likely to add moving imagery to many of my songs... of course, I'll have to gather a film crew, find producers, get some lighting rigs... ah forget it, I'll have someone else make the video. Thanks for calling out the suspense; suspense and mystery is where I wanted this to go, so I'm glad it felt that way. Thanks for listening John!

Cool drums
It's increadably advanced this piece. The bits and pieces you've put together in place with the advanced rhythm is stunning. I'm very impressed of the quality in your musicianship. This could remind me of something Frank Zappa and the Mothers of invention could do.

I often pick up my guitar and jam along the pieces I listen to here. What is interesting is that blues-style riffs goes with most of the styles. At least in my ears they do;) So I guess even post-humans could come to that conclusion, if they can find a guitar...

wow! I'm getting whiplash from listening to some of the freakishly
fantastic tunes on macjams. Others have said it far better than I, in fact
some of the comments are almost as good as the song! Excellent
drumetrics here Mr Vortex, indeed. But this is a great Phoenix rising
from the ruins. Not the ruins itself. The earthlings are fighting back.
Can't you hear them. Or is that just me?
Soooo, could you set a vortex to a guitar/vocal after the fact? If it's sort
of to a click track? Sort of may be the operative word here.

Beth, thank you for listening. It is indeed a phoenix rising from the ashes

of humanity, but not necessarily a sign of violence. But maybe. I like your

space trip
You'd better check those astronauts for diseases - it sounds like they might have encountered some weird extraterrestrial viruses on that journey. lol.

It's ironic - but the last piece I posted ("Pliny's Natural History") has a scholar arguing it's madness to try and go beyond this physical planet to try to determine what's out there. Of course, not only was he proven wrong by the telescope, but less than 2,000 years later interplantery travel has become a reality (or it could've been a reality if our deficit spending hadn't gotten so wildly out of control!).

I find this highly imaginative piece equal to whatever astonishments are waiting to be discovered out there. With each repeated listening there seems to be more to find - more details to be noticed. Yet it firmly remains grounded by the percussion - obviously your specialty and your point of departure into the netherworld. What a great trip it takes you on!

Thank you for the thoughtful comment, Warren. I appreciate the fact that you
find the more-details-noticed-with-repeated-listening thing going on, as I
almost always try to do exactly that in my mixes: reveal more as you grow
more familiar with it. Or alternately, I want them to work whether one is just
barely listening, or carefully focusing. Actually, I demand too much from my
mixes... must remember to give them a vacation soon...

I greatly enjoyed your Pliny's Natural History, and the wackadoo old fashioned
ideas and interesting perspectives of the time.

Thaks for listening, I'm glad you enjoyed this, Warren!
