Description:
So uh, I guess I don't really get to writing songs these days unless someone gives me an assignment. This one happens to be runway music for a fashion show my school is putting on. I tried reaaaaally hard to extract the vocals from the original track, the best I could come up with was this hi-freq stuff. Props to my friend Josh Mullin (future mac jammer?) for helping me with this part.

blah, just listen...

Dude you're going places w/ your talents - If ya wanna - Unless you're
all of a sudden struck stupid.... It can happen, but it would have to be
big enough to make an awful lot of noise because I've tried running
you through the ringer and you don't budge off center - except, maybe
that one time...hehe

Okay, so I didn't get a chance to tell ya the other night what I thought
of this, but I will now - This is so HOT! - Having been to many of the
places, between NY and Paris, the places that might charge ya to move
yer feet to this, I have to say that this one would be the one to pry me
from my wall flower post - And in fact, I would hope more like this one
was to follow because, this is what I showed up to dance to. It's very
tight. Nice mix of stuff goin on. I like the vocals; what was left of it. It
defined, how sexy this is...

And yes, it does need to be sexy if it's gonna be one of the main
transporting features in a fashion show - It's not just sexy, It also
represents a confidence in movement - it's metro, it exudes a
perception of 'class act', and w/ quite abit of sassy... But the sassy
part, it's what might be a sticking point... It is very sassy, and so it
might exclude the idea that a guy would be strutin to this but hey, I'm
the only one who might think that... And look at me, I can't wait to
dance to it - But you get the picture

This is a very slick piece my friend - Very cool - You get many thumbs
up from me - Dion

Dion
Thanks for the support. I might try to make an entire CD of songs in this style
with a vocalist friend to sell in an upsoming art exibit. It was her idea not mine,
but actually, I kind of like it. Don't worry though, it's not gonna set us back or
anything. Wait...wasn't I supposed to keep my mouth shut about that?

Funky Beat... &mdash 04/17/06 - 08:31:03 AM
...with lots of interesting elements, both in percussion and melody. I like
the tinny vocals too, though I've got some questions about that, which I
think I'll reserve for an email.

Nice &mdash 04/17/06 - 10:42:23 AM
Strutting and with the confidence of a diva, just what you want for runway walkers. This is a fine, jaunty tune, well mixed.

nailed it &mdash 04/17/06 - 11:11:25 AM
i can picture the runway now, and yes, it does exude a complete
confidence in style. considering the assignment you nailed it. i would
be interested in hearing the version with the vocals. solid mix as
always.

Really professional &mdash 04/17/06 - 01:00:18 PM
mix and seems perfect for your assignment..... I bet it goes down really well! Love that tight, funky rythm that carries it along and those little extras like the car engine refusing to start .... an original and lovely touch. Keep it up!

Smooooth &mdash 04/18/06 - 08:05:12 AM
This really is smooth - perfect for, like you said, a fashion show and such
occasions.
I thought it got a little bit repetitive in the end, but considering the
purpose of this track, that's not really a flaw.

Again: Smooooth!

All that song... &mdash 04/18/06 - 12:42:23 PM
Really nice touch. I like the subtle sound and must admit, I thought the "all that jazz" vocal would start to get a bit annoying, but it didn't. Liked it much.

It's all that... &mdash 04/22/06 - 06:31:44 PM
Joel, this is awesome. Great beat and really love the jazzy classiness to it.
Not a fan of the extracted vocals, though. You could have asked anybody
to sing on this one and with your awesome sampling remix, it could have
turned out just as wonderful.

Another great work from you, man. Overall rating of 9.
