Description:
Being so lucky to have good friends is something I value a lot. The things I share with my friends is one of the pillars in my life. Here's a song about that...
Lyrics:
WHAT A FEELING
Thor Oliversen©2006
Had some time off
and met with some friends
Easy living
away from the tense
what a feeling
what a feeling
We all agreed on
more often to meet
Have a party
just roll with the beat
what a feeling
what a feeling
Late night
singing our songs
Cheers to my mates
Talking, bonding with all
my bedrock you are
--
what a feeling
what a feeling
--
Late night
singing our songs
Cheers to my mates
Talking, bonding with all
my bedrock you are
Days of formal
Work and routine
It may be normal
But I'm feeling free
--
what a feeling
what a feeling

Sorry, just had to plant my flag in that last comment. I was just so
excited to be first because I love your music so much. The guitar on
this is just INCREDIBLE and the vocal layering and harmonies really just
make the song explode everytime you bring them in. There's a live feel
to this track, nice and energetic, not too glossy, just right, totally
Thoddi.

Flag Planter!!! &mdash 04/17/06 - 10:22:12 PM
You're definitely not invisible - making sounds like this...You and yer flag
planting move... hhhaa... Next thing you know, things are gonna start turning
red/white and blue -
And you said just about everything that I wanted to say... - This does have a
very live feel to it, and even though the wind has been taken from my blow...
I like the quirky, laid back groove ya got goin mister Thoddi - And once
again, I'm reminded that yes, I was shorted in the funky gene department -
Your tunes consistently lay out the funk like no others here - You do have the
corner on funk here at MJS - That feeling of hanging out and chilling w/ yer
mates was so well captured here - It's been awhile, but I was easily able to
imagine a group of close friends hangn' out, just shootn' the sh_t, and w/
your chosen family... - I guess I'm kinda missing my buddies back home in
Seattle, and I'm reminded of what I miss most, here in my new digs some
12hrs away... Thanks my friend - Certainly one to take for the road... Dion

Hmm, and I put this under rhythm & blues... I have trouble seeing what genre my stuff fits in. Maybe all that listening to James Brown finally is paying off...
Thanks for such a nice review. And if you need some help with that funk gene on the bright career of yours I've heard talk of, I'll be lining up as your crew:)

I'm thrilled that you like this one, and your description of the vocal harmonies and that they make the song explode, makes me feel I'm into something good.
Thanks a lot Lisa:)

Ohh - Yeah!! &mdash 04/18/06 - 06:31:12 AM
Nothin' like breaking away from the routine, and getting away. What a FEELing in that guitar, man. Fortunately , I get to take a week off next week!!! YEAH! Get out of town for pleasure... and give away the eldest daughter.
Perfect timing, Thor! Now I'm really getting pumped up.
Cheers to you too, greetings from accross the great pond,

So right &mdash 04/18/06 - 10:13:26 AM
Man, you're really damn good at this! The mix, the songwriting, the playing, it's all so right on and professional sounding. The rhythm section is solid and groovy and holds down the guitar and singing perfectly. Pretty awesome thoddi!! [ Reply to This ]

So, this is how it's done &mdash 04/18/06 - 10:35:54 AM
What a great song. So celebratory and free-spirited. All the elements just mesh so well.
I'm just awed by what can be accomplished with simple lil' GB. MJ should hold classes online for people like me to learn from you and the other masters.
Cheers. [ Reply to This ]
So, this is how it's done &mdash 04/18/06 - 02:21:21 PM
Glad you liked it:)
I see GB as a plain harddisk recorder with some extras, like a bunch of software instruments to choose from.
Otherwise I treat it like I would mix an ordinary tape recording.
What I like most is how easy it is to visualize each track on top of each other, make adjustments to timing errors or even small pitch adjustments.
But it all comes down to what you put into it...:)
Thanks for listening and commenting.
Cheers!

Great 70s rock feel &mdash 04/24/06 - 11:52:19 AM
This is just perfect. Song writing, singing and playing, arrangement and
mixing, it's all just as it needs to be for a classic rock vibe. Great track!

sorry that it took my so long to come across this, but better late than
never, right? :)
This has a really nice groove, really dug the wah.
Nice playing all around and very soulful vocal performance. I don't really
have anything to complain about - very nice.

thoddi's own version of... &mdash 06/23/06 - 06:36:18 PM
Quicksilver Messanger Service with a litlle Steely mixed in. Gad... how do you do it? don't answer that, I think I know. I started out in the sixties playing tenor in a soul band... 3 white guys, 3 black guys... in the Philadelphia area. The white guys in those bands were referred to as "blue-eyed soul brothers." That you are.
