Description:
acoustic guitars with orchestration and vocal layers

Lyrics:
ALL’S IT TOOK WAS A WILLING CHILD, TO GIVE SOME FISH & BREAD
JESUS MULTIPLIED THE GIFT AND THE HUNGRY CROWD WAS FED
A WILLING CHILD... THE LORD WOULD THE REST
A WILLING CHILD... AND THE FATHERS HEART IS BLESSED

HELP ME BE A WILLING CHILD. I WILL LOOK TO YOU
AND I WILL BE A WILLING CHILD, YOUR STRENGTH IN ALL I DO

ON A BRIGHT SHINY MORNING A SHEPARD BOY,
PICKS UP SMALL SMOOTH STONES.
GOES OUT TO FACE HIS GIANT THERE,
BUT HE DOESN’T STAND ALONE
A WILLING CHILD... THE LORD WOULD THE REST
A WILLING CHILD... AND THE FATHERS HEART IS BLESSED

HELP ME BE A WILLING CHILD. I WILL LOOK TO YOU
AND I WILL BE A WILLING CHILD, YOUR STRENGTH IN ALL I DO

SEE HOW HIS CHILDREN UNDERSTAND
GOD CAN USE THEM
IT MUST MAKE HIM SMILE...THEY SAY,
LITTLE IS MUCH IN MY DADDY’S HAND
WE CAN TRUST HIM
HELP ME BE THAT CHILD

HELP ME BE A WILLING CHILD. I WILL LOOK TO YOU
AND I WILL BE A WILLING CHILD, YOUR STRENGTH IN ALL I DO

Beautiful... &mdash 04/17/06 - 11:18:49 PM
guitar playing and vocals. Excellent arrangement. I love the way it kicks
in at the second verse. Parts of this remind me a bit of some of Phil
Keaggy's acoustic work (which is a good thing!). Very pro job of mixing.

Bless you!

thank you... wow... Phil Keagy... I played with him in the 80's (last century)...
he used to come on cruises with us... I knew several Christian artists, but I
was struck with how genuine He was, off the stage as well as on... He's a
players player but He's also the real deal... yea, the song takes a while to kick
in .. I was afraid that it would get turned off before it gets interesting... thanx
for listening through

Scott, this is just beautiful. Faved and downloaded. This needs to be on
Christian radsio, seriously. I love how you layered the vox, I love the
words, I love the emotion and the message. You go, bro!

thanx Roxylee... I held back on this cause I thought it might not be
sophisticated enough... it's pretty straight forward... but I still try not to
preach, just show how He works.... anyway what a releif to be a child at 50

thanx again... God Bless

"Sophisticated" is an overrated concept. I prefer honest, real, straightforward,
which this is. Even Taylors need someone good to make 'em sing. You do.

By the way, I'm envious. You got to play with Keaggy. Though, to tell the truth,
I'd be so nervous my fingers would tie up.

willing listener &mdash 04/18/06 - 01:44:44 PM
Your voice is so warm, in styling and performance. The use of the willing
child is a very sweet metaphor, well done. Your arrangement is
wonderful, but the recording is sometimes oppressive in its over-
compression and perhaps too much reverb in the low frequencies, making
the listening experience (in headphones) much less comfortable than you
intend, in my ears anyway. Wonderful song, and your voice is so so right.

HI tobin... I'm hearing what your saying... the guitars were recorded with too
much compression, so there is none in the mix... however, there is very mild
one stage compression on the master channel, with a limiter (which can
squash the sound even more)... maybe I'll remix with the intension of letting
it breath..

thanx, sincerly

Another beautiful song from you, and a message well worth taking to heart. The Man who broke the bread and fish sought to be the Willing Child...

Thanks,

Really beautiful. A great and full-ripe composition. I love you way of
singing in harmonies. And the arrangement in the latter half of the
song is awesome!

So for the nitpicking:
Sounds like your'e hesitating in the beginning. Like you haven't begun
to find you feet yet. Or haven't found focus yet. This makes a big
contrast to the latter part of the song (after drums come in) when you
ARE finding your feet and focus... If you in the future are going to
make another version, which I think this song is really worth, I would
have suggested more focus from the beginning. (Don't know if I am on
the right track here, but I suggest being cautious and not follow
Vineyardy jargon ... Vineyard has made lots of good to christian music
life, I love to go to Vineyard worship meetings and I have from time to
another participated in Vineyard worship teams, but there is more
beyond and after their form standards, and you are a great example of
that and you have a great gift here which is shown for example in the
latter half of this song).

PS As I said in the beginning: Really beautiful! A great and full-ripe
composition. I love you way of singing in harmonies. And the
arrangement in the latter half of the song is awesome!

Hi Curry... thanx pal, always welcome honest critique on our pilgramage out
of "amiture" statis... I have a vox track that is supported well, and chose the
vunerable beginning because of the song content... and I have to say, if I
listen close to the beginning, I make a face like I'm eating lemons... maybe it
time to re-think it..

I'm happy this still worked for you

The first thing I would want to hear from you is that the guitar sounds great,
because of the way your guitar always sounds... but with those fingers you
could make the worst equipment sound top shelf

Keaggy-ish &mdash 04/20/06 - 02:00:07 PM
Agreed some Keaggy poking in and out. But it would need to sound a bit
more British/Beatles so your voice is truly unique. Thanks. But for those
who aren't familiar with Phil Keaggy now that's a lesson in humility.

yeah his voice can easily be mistaken for McCartney's, and aside from his
chops he can really sing

Keaggy-ish &mdash 04/20/06 - 02:47:08 PM
Oh yes he can. He has multiple styles too. Really in a class by himself. What's
amazing is seeing him do his stuff solo, just his acoustic and a floor full of
pedals. You can tell who the musicians are in the crowd cuz their heads are
gesturing "no" in disbelief as he does his thing.

At first, because I am new to this site, I wasn't sure what I thought of this
song. I have listened to quite a few songs now and have decided that
your song sounds much better and is done in a much better fashion than
many others. First because it has a good message for us all and two
because it really does sound great! Very good acoustic guitar, something
I have trouble getting done!! My favorite is the end arrangement with
vocal harmony and then the taper off into the solo ending. Very thought
provoking ending. As was said earlier, I too see this on christian radio.
God Bless.

Extraordinary skills &mdash 05/19/06 - 11:57:09 AM
Scott, you are a huge talent! Everything I've heard of yours is fantastic.
This is another very well-written song, sung and played beautifully.

Are you familiar with Steve Bell? If not, PLEASE give the guy a
listen on iTunes... You remind me of him a little bit. He came here a
few years ago and it was one of the most memorable concerts I've ever
heard, and I've heard a few. He then did some more music at our
church the next day (I was the praise band leader then), and I really,
really wanted to jam with the guy, but I was too shy to ask. I tried very
powerful ESP messages, but they failed, for some odd reason...

Keep 'em coming!

(I agree with Tobin that the mix sounds a little edgy, but I know
nothing about mixing, so I don't know why that is._

thanx Clark... hi praise indeed.... It was recorded with too much compression
(Guitars) so it can't be fixed, I don't think, unless we're just talking hi end...
anyway I never have made that mistake again.. I'm happy it still worked for
you
