alone in the dark... &mdash 04/19/06 - 09:31:02 AM
is this what your G5 dreams while you're away? As always, inventive
flowing ideas throughout your works. I like the soft little off-key cuckoo
that showed up about 1/3 in. So, I think you are creating a new
DoofyGenre... too many gritty beats for ambient, but too smooth and
flowing for industrial, and they work well together, however you do that...
it must be the new "Industriant" genre! This is quite good. You have a
moderate amount of low-boomy-midrange bouncing around in here,
which doesn't add much, you might want to try to lower that freq a bit,
and insert some really deep bass throbs here and there though.

Drakonis

For a while I thought it was my destiny not to listen to this piece, as everytime I tried I got interrupted.

One of the great things about participating in the macjams community is you never know where fate is going to take you - that is, lately my destiny seems to be to bounce around from piece to piece virtually at random, even when I try to impose some orderliness to it. Which is how I ended up listening to your piece, over and over again, this morning. Each interruption made me more determined to get through the thing as a whole experience.

It was worth the journey. There's lots of interesting sounds, textures, pauses and passageways to visit.

I am both fascinated and baffled by loop-based music, probably because it's not how I approach composition. I assume you have to listen to, and evaluate, and compare and contrast, a wide variety of loops in order to put them together into a continuous flow. I'm guessing sometimes the combining happens fast and naturally, and other times the needed pieces are elusive. I find it amazing what you loopsters come up with.
