Description:
I originally wrote this song in High School, back in the early '70s "Jesus People" days when hair was popular, and I still had some. There was this coffeehouse called "House of the Risen Son" where we would meet Friday nights and some wonderful praise-jamming would happen. I tried to keep some of that light, fun "Feelin' Groovy" atmosphere in this arrangement. I'm so glad God gave us music!
Lyrics:
People, why don’t they see the light.
Are they blinded by what seems right
In their eyes, as they look on the things of he world,
That glimmer and sparkle like pearls
In their hands.
Jesus, please help them understand.
All their toys will slip away like the sand,
And Your love will outshine all the things they now see.
So, Lord, let it reach them through me.
Cause You came. You died to redeem us and rose,
Ascended to Heaven.
And now, by faith I’ve received that gift, so I’ll live forever.
Help me to share it ever anew.
Jesus, establish me in love.
Help me keep my eyes on things above.
Build my life with the power of Your Spirit and Word.
Don’t let me forget what I’ve heard.
Soon You’ll come, and with You I’ll go to my Home,
Ascend into Heaven.
But now, so many still need to believe, so they’ll live forever.
Help me to share it ever anew.

I can't believe I missed this! &mdash 05/16/06 - 11:01:55 PM
I'm glad you mentioned it in your Forum Post or I might never have heard
it. Very pretty devotional tune, this. Solid arrangement. Nice playing.
Clean and pro sounding mix. The real treat is the vocal harmonies.
Lovely. Takes me back to those early MARANATHA albums (I have the first
three still!) and the days of LOVE SONG and THE WAY.
God bless! [ Reply to This ]

There was certainly some "Love Song" influence in this, yes. I still think those
were very refreshing days in CCM, despite boatloads of theological naiveté.
Today so much of it sounds the same to me, stamped out cookie-cutter,
formula stuff. I still go back to those old albums.
Or is this just "golden oldie" nostalgia ruminations of an man who just turned
50? [ Reply to This ]
