Just another silly love song

This is not in the vicinity of silly, Roy. This is really well written,
arranged, performed, engineered. The modulations are very effective.
The parts are voiced very professionally. The flow of the song is just
right. There is a lot of seriously good stuff going on in this song.

I'd like to know more about how you put this song together - the
writing, the arrangement, the playing. It's just so damn good... Who are
these guys? Are they you?

Some suggestions, which you don't need but I'll offer nevertheless: the
reverb on the kick seems superfluous, and on the sidestick I'd like to
hear a lighter, longer, smoother reverb setting. I think it would make
the kick and stick sound a bit sweeter before the song begins its build.
I would also encourage the organist to use his expression pedal a bit
more, to help the song breathe. Finally, some synth pads properly
placed would warm this song up nicely.

Not one of these suggestions is necessary. This is very, very well done.
Congratulations.

You're a graphic design guy? Wow...

Wow great stuff and from a very high level musician, thanks.

These guys are me and my trusty mac. The song was written by me for my
wife of 27 years, and was originally sequenced on a Korg M1, recorded to
tape, then re-recorded from scratch using GB.

Order of tracks, original recording, Piano, scratch drum loop, bass, organ,
bells, drums played live on the keyboard, guitars, vocals.

I'll have a listen to pull some of the reverb back. In order to isolate the kick I
could cut and paste the kick into a seperate track, you see I just don't think
this way, yet.

I agree that a pad would warm up the feel. Any suggestions which one I
should try? I was leaning toward some voices/choir at the end but then I
stopped, thinking I was over doing it already.

As far as the organist, well that's an artform in and of itself. And there's so
much to consider not the least of which is just going from chord to chord
without breaking the flow. It's great that it's posible to fix it up. The parts I
didn't were re-expressing how the leslie came in and out, but you are so
right, a lot could be added to really punch that up. I'll look into it.

Thanks again for the input and the listen.

Roy, I really don't think you need to touch this song. It stands perfectly well just
as it is. I only made the suggestions here to give you things to think about for
your next submissions, which I hope are plenty.

Man, if you did all that, you are carrying around a big bucket of talent.
Everything is so well played - *everything*.

Keep writing, Roy. You're going to build yourself quite a following here.

What a beautiful testiment to your 27 years of marriage. This is so well produced and put together. Your singing is beautiful, full of love and admiration for the subjet of the song. I also enjoyed the guitar work.

Well done.

Cheers.

She did, thanks. But she's shy about sharing the tunes I write for her. Unlike me
where I post it online for any and all. I'm glad you had a listen. Thanks

I'd love to see the lyrics posted. Good job. Try to get more fullness in your vocal reproduction. I can tell it's there. It will make the song all the more compelling. Nice pacing and punctuation.

Ah yes, it's always about the voice. When you're outfitted with a voice like
Peewee Herman Garageband can only do so much. Thanks for the listen.

Next song just instrumental. 5 days from now.

Now don't beat yourself up. Your voice is not Pewee Herman. It has good
expression and dynamics. I just think the timbre can be improved with a
better mic and/or equalization. What are you recording with?

Hey Richard, Just saw this post. Sorry about the delayed reaction and I'm not
sure you'll see the reply. I'm using the Berhringer B2 pro, going through Line6
Tone port. I've still got some fiddling to do.

I'm going to remix/EQ most of the songs posted before. So you may have the
option to hear it fresh.

Very Nice &mdash 05/15/06 - 07:27:23 PM
Mr. Solorio this is a wonderful song. I think the drums may have been
a little to out front. The vocal was great but I would have liked to hear
some harmony vocals in the chorus. (fine as is) Your guitar playing is
fantastic. Nice tune with very nice changes. I enjoyed it very much.
Thanks for sharing.

Very Nice &mdash 05/16/06 - 05:58:52 PM
Thanks for the comments. I like the idea of BVGs, but I need to develope that
part of my arrainging skill. In other words if I don't hear it it's not going to
make it into the piece. Not to say that I couldn't learn, right?

Man, you can sing! What a beautiful song, and beautiful arrangement.
Definitely could use some strings at some point, but not essential. Just
beautiful. Good job!

Solid song &mdash 12/21/06 - 02:10:26 PM
Nice tune but your vocals sound distant to me. Maybe it's my headphone. NIce guitar work. Your wife must have been thrilled by this.

But that goodwill has been dashed to pieces with too many GB projects to soak up time. I'll have to do one of these a year to stay out of the dog house. Which is in seious disrepair.

Thanks for the ears. I've been looking into some studio moitors to help with my mixes. My headphones just don't give me a good sense of balance.
