Nothing like a new guitar &mdash 04/23/06 - 08:18:32 PM
to put some spring in your playing. I really like your style, you have a nice
fluid fingerstyle. I like the tone you get with your rig. Leads as always are
hot. The simple and subtle rhythem in the background, has a nice
harmonic ring to it. By the way, the artwork you have here reminds me of
the Yes Fragile Album. Cool.
Have fun with the new JS1200.

I've been playing a cheap Ibanez for awhile now and I really liked the feel of it so I began to check into a better model Ibanez. The problem is there were so many to choose from and the local store does have that many models in stock. So I took a chance and special ordered the JS1200 hoping I couldn't go wrong and I love it. It has the standard two double coil pick ups which are Dimarzio but built into the tone control is a pull switch to split the coils and turn them into single coil pick ups. There's also a pull switch on the volume control which is a high pass filter. You can get quite a variation in tone using the different combinations. It's light, small, has a great candy apple paint job and feels great. Now why did I pick this guitar? Beats me.

Nice virgin voyage &mdash 04/24/06 - 08:04:01 AM
Relaxed and fluid. Nice use of tempo changes, drum loops, setting the
guitar out front (perhaps a tad too much?), and warmth mixed with edge.
The backing rhythm guitar part is too repetitive in my ears (but, then
again, repetition is something I always balk at, so take that with a grain of
salt), and it makes the guitar backing guitars seem like a loop instead of
true comping. The track is much better than the abrupt ending and
deserves a true end. I really like the sound you achieve. I love Ibanez
(Suzanne has one). Nice virgin voyage.

Thanks Tobin, can't argue with what you had to say. The guitar being too loud probably comes from being a guitar player. I kept dropping the volume on the guitar a couple of Db's at a time until I thought it was too soft and this is what I ended up with. At lower volumes I find the mix to be ok but at higher volumes I find the guitar too loud. I always struggle in the mix down with what should be the right level for the guitar.

playing. You're sounding really natural on the new guitar.

Satch! I'm guessing that you own a few Satriani CDs. This has a real similar vibe to some of his stuff. I am a HUGE Satch fan and have thought about buying a JS model and have played them a bunch of times at the local Guitar Center. For some reason, I'm just so used to the action and neck on my Wolfgang that it feels funny in my hands. Maybe one day, I'll break down and get one anyway and then buy a Satch amp and a Satch guitar strap and a Satch pick and.....ok you get the idea. Very cool!

Yeah, I own a few of his CD's, how did you guess? When I ordered this guitar
they let me take home a Peavey Signature Series while I waited for mine to
arrive. It was a beautiful guitar and like you said this one just didn't feel right.
I guess it's all what you get used to. Thanks for stopping by.
