Description:
A song of self discovery. This take of the song is best thought of as a performance of the song rather than the definative version. One guitar, one vocal, one take, a few rough edges.

Lyrics:
Last night in the moon's cold light
Deep in hidden places
Under gentle falling stars
I danced with all my might

Grace fell down She danced with me
She blessed my tears of grief
I bathed within her emerald eyes
In pools of sweet relief

I sang a song unhead
I sang a song unspoken
I cried a kneeling HALLELUJAH
I wept and I was broken

Then she lead me on and on
To places further yet
She brought me to a precious shrine
Where earth and sky, they met

Standing in a higher place
My arms stretched out in awe
I lifted up my eyes above
And there I met God

Thanks Didge! I'm glad you like it. I felt quite inspired listening to your latest
track last night. If you're seriously okay with me taking some of your posted
music and playing overtop, I think it'd be a joy for me to do.

Yep no problem at all with that... just the typical attribution and no commercial
(unless you ask) kinda thing. Other than that get as funky as you want with it. If
you want GB files or AIFFs catch me on iChat didge.ache@mac and Ill be happy
to oblige that way as well.

I really wanto do some real time collabs with you though after I get that
microphone. That'll be a blast, Im sure!

Feel good, its why you wanted to be a human in the first place.

Halleluja &mdash 04/29/06 - 06:53:48 AM
Reminiscent of the intimate on stage moments of the late Jeff Buckley,
especially "Halleluja." Inspirational in many ways, on many levels. Thanks
for this. The only thing is the ping echo of the s's, which make them
sound sibilant and made me look around for passing traffic, even tho I
really like the reverb setting that gives it such a concert feel. Wonderful
track.

Halleluja &mdash 04/29/06 - 02:28:27 PM
Thanks for the comments Tobin. I'd be a liar if I didn't say that Jeff Buckley has
been a favorite of mine for over a decade. Ya, I'm a sucker for delay and
reverb...sometimes to my detriment. Someday soon I'll sit down and mix these
tunes up proper.

The rough &mdash 04/29/06 - 09:15:03 AM
edges just give it personality. I like this, it really does sound like a good live performance. Music like this doesn't need clean edges so much as soulful delivery, and man you've got that! Great job.

Gosh, thanks Laine. I really appreciate the encouragement. I'm glad the music
speaks on the other side of the ocean. What a gift this place can be to a home
grown artist!

truly great. &mdash 04/29/06 - 10:22:51 AM
i'm glad you plugged this in the forums. man. what a nice tune. i'm lovin' the intimacy of your vocals..... and the lyrics are truly inspiring. even as a non denominational, i can relate these words to so many wonderous, personal experiences. you are definitely faved. the only gripe is the production. a lil' muddy on the guitar, and the vox could have a little more pop stop and siblance reduction. way minor gripes though. great emotion man.......

I'm glad you like it. Yesterday I picked up some new gear and this was a *test*
that went somewhere. I definately hear you on the production quabbles. This'll
get cleaned up and treated right some day (hopefully soon if my day job allows).

For a take one, this is impressive! &mdash 04/30/06 - 10:34:21 AM
The most outstanding feature of this song is the great poetry of the
lyrics! This ballad can be read without melody and will sound awesome
and touch hearts!

Your voice reminds me of a mellow Bono. It has a good timbre and
quite emotional and expressive. I think it was recorded a little too
close to the mic though as i can discern some clipping. The guitars
sound too far and drowned out. It does have a live recording quality to
it, which may explain the simplicity and rawness but it also gives it a
very heartfelt and spontaneous appeal.

This song speaks volumes of feelings. Great job, considering that it is
a take one. I will be very interested to hear the studio-polished
version, too. Each version will have its appeal in a different way for
sure.

By the way, nice picture art! Andy-Warholesque! :-)

Lots of great songs in this site but nobody seems to care that half the
promotional appeal is in the visuals.

really nice.

i totally agree with the Buckley comparison, and i hate comparing people
with him, so that's pretty big.

i like the guitar work alot.

can't wait to hear the "definitive version"

fantastic &mdash 05/05/06 - 07:58:58 PM
in all regards, lyrically, performance and the actual recording come off
flawlessly. I love your voice. Tons of emotion and depth. I can't believe
the you did this in one take. I love to hear your studio takes! Quite the
dynamics going on. A build and mellow interlude, heck, real live honest
Loved it

Many thanks for your comments. I hope to have something a bit more
polished posted soon. It's always a challenge not to dampen the
immediacy of a track while giving it that professional gleam.
