Description:
Another collaboration with Johnny Katchoolik where he sends me a song framework with rhythm guitar, bass, drums and other percussion and lead guitar. I then write lyrics and come up with the melody which I sing. On this song, Johnny had a very slow moving, eerie sort of sound so I tried to write lyrics to match. They tell a story that actually happened to me 25 years ago. I will just say that the first person I told this story to gave me ridicule and disbelief in return. So if this is your reaction that's fine but spare me any debates. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind or argue a point of view. I am simply telling a story from a first person point of view and how I felt. Take it or leave it I do not care.

Lyrics:
Then I Saw It
Hot summer night, walking with my woman, up on rhe tracks and then I saw it,
then I saw it

Light brighter than a train, coming right at us, rose up in the air and then I saw it,
Then I saw it

Then it disapeared, but we kept on walking, down toward the road, but it was gone,
But it was gone!

World upside down, what's happening, everything is crumbling, I'm changing

We turned around, started walking back, dead dog on the tracks, it wasn't there
before
It wasn't there before

Ran off of the tracks, then climbed back on it, looked over the trees, and then I saw it
Then I saw it

Another good one &mdash 05/01/06 - 12:54:29 AM
This was again fun, Tom. I am really digging the vibe on this one,
your vocals fit so nicely with my music. Good story, but no song art?
haha, looking forward to the next collab.

Cheers
Johnny

whatever the hell it was! Katch really delivers the eiree here. Your lyrics
and vox provide an excellent match. I always love your collabs. This is no
exception.

this is some &mdash 05/01/06 - 12:09:36 PM
wickedly strange yet familiar music.....sorta like when ry cooder came
onto the scene.....bronco's haunting lament just sticks on u like some
delicious barbecue suace u spilled on your best shirt.....the track is like a
musical dilemna....it sounds familiar (the sound of the guitar backing and
solo) but not at the same time if u catch my drift......kool....!

Great story! &mdash 05/01/06 - 03:53:31 PM
Feels right. Great weave!

My brother in law saw something odd about thirty years
ago...unexplainable.

See, this,... &mdash 05/01/06 - 05:30:53 PM
...THIS... is another one of those ones that is its own thing...

I love the bluesy main vocal, and then the "world upside down"
chorus... The main bit sounds like the blues melded to Gregorian
chant...

The guitars are always really toneful when you guys get to work...Is
that all katchoolik on this one?... Sounds like REAL GUITAR, the way a
real guitar in a real room sounds when you're playing it... The solo is
really nice for all its shortness...

Great artwork for this one. This song paints a picture. Mungo's right--
it's got a touch of X-Files...

My son just came into the room and had me play it again for him, and
let him use the headphones. He wants to ask you all those questions
that you're probably tired of answering, and figure it all out...

Neat tune.

Ed

Ed, I'm really glad you like the verse vocal. Johnny didn't like the verse one I
did and made me think and work to get the second one. This was not a bad
thing because Johnny has been right everytime he has made a suggestion so
far. And yes, Johnny has played all guitars on all of our collaborations except
for the first one "Strange Feeling" where I did the solo's. He has done all the
rhythm guitar and all of the slide guitar and most of the lead guitar to
perfection. That takes the burden off of my enthusiastic but less
sophisticated guitar playing so that I can concentrate on lyrics and vocal.

Strangely strange &mdash 05/02/06 - 04:31:11 PM
This has an eerie feel... befitting the otherworldy subject matter. Another
nice collaboration you have here guys.. I like the understated guitar work
and percussion.

I see... &mdash 05/02/06 - 09:28:23 PM
haunting and lulling in a very sublime way...another wonderful collab...if you guys can do a few more songs together, then I see an awesome album in the making...Bronco, your vocals and lyrics echo that Strange Feeling in Katchoolik's music perfectly...both of you have a very unique way of taking what's simple and understated and making it sound so powerful and affecting...Katchoolik, wonderful guitar playing--the kind that seduces the mind into a trance and won't let go.....the world is full of ridicule and disbelief...makes me sigh...often, it is like one is walking in a dark tunnel, just following the tracks in oblivion...then one hears this tune that makes one think in a different light, and you can't help but to look back and ponder....can anything ever be the same when you have changed yourself?.....and deep down, you know the truth

Thanks Mikki! It does seem as if Johnny and I are a good fit in the songwriting
dept. I find it quite easy now to come up with lyrics and a vocal. I'm just not
sure if they are any good but Johnny has been honest and pointed me in the
right direction when I need to change something.

seem? &mdash 05/04/06 - 10:06:14 PM
"not sure if they are any good"?? come on, Tom...those are not words of conviction...regardless of what anybody else thinks or says, I personally enjoy and like every collaboration you did with Johnny, as well as many of your solo tunes, and I look forward to hearing more from you two...I like the fact that you guys are making music because you truly enjoy it and are having fun with it...like Johnny's style, your vocals are unique, unaffected, and confrontational (but in a quiet, understated way) with all the emotions that composite who you are, and that's something no one can ever emulate...to be true to self, unique, and unwavering--that's about as good as it gets, but both of you already knew that, and I just rambled....now, the real question is: when are you going to dust off that '74 Fender Tele and let us hear some of those Bronco chops?!

Another great collab coming from you guys. The guitarplaying and sound is amazing. It sets the mood for the song. Then your vocals comes in and makes it even stronger. The chorus is amazing, and it keeps getting greater during the song. The ending is really going way up! Looking forward to your next collab, and...... :)
