Description:
this is a fuller version of the acoustic version i posted earlier and my first collab w/ drummer kevmikwa-thanks to him for all his hard work and help in turning this song into the feel-good-hit of the summer!!!

Lyrics:

i want to listen like i should do...
i want to look you in the eye...
and not gonna say how can i cheat this..
i just want to live until i die...

i want to laugh at all this weakness...
but some are more and some are less...
and i see all the love you've ever needed,
but it's nothing we posses..

i want to wait until it's over...
i heard someone say that this could hurt...
i want to stay clean and sober,
so i wrote down what i learned...

there's shadows moving underneath me...
i want to be a better man...
you bought me this loose-leaf: keep it
-you're the only one who understands...

i want to listen like i should do..
i sit and watch as you undress...
and i see all the love you've ever needed...
but it's nothing we possess...

Great arr.. &mdash 05/05/06 - 02:43:48 AM

Beautiful &mdash 05/05/06 - 03:23:12 AM
and well crafted. I notice that the arragement makes the song pull back
from forward momentum towards the end of each verse. This is an
interesting effect leading me as a listener to anticipate more about what's
coming next.

Wonderful improvements &mdash 05/05/06 - 05:23:14 AM
I like how more present your performance sounds, less reverb, more right
beside me; and I really like the addition of bass and electric rhythm
guitar; and the harmonies make the bridge really nice. The arrangement is
mainstream and very nicely done. However, altho the middle section has
great balance (ac gtr left, el gtr right), the opening and ending section
with just one guitar, especially the ac gtr at the end, seems out of balance
(in my ears). Also, in the instrumental section the flute-synth seems a
little soft and too right as well. Many more interesting details in this
version, nice work!

nice singin and playing &mdash 05/05/06 - 08:23:02 AM
like that marching beat, the instruments flow nicely as well.

Nice style!

jonx, help me out here... &mdash 05/05/06 - 07:21:20 PM
Will you just explain to me how come you're not this amazing super-
famous star with a recording contract and several fancy cars and limos,
one of which you are gracious enought to lend to me?...

Or are you?

This is a very fine song and a lovely performance, and if you WERE or
ARE that super-famous guy, then you could produce this version of a
song like this, and it would sound just fine on radio and critics would
say it has a "charming immediacy" and make much of its supposed
small flaws...

As, perhaps, an alternative to your better known, more produced or
rock-oriented or alternative or AOR style...

Sheesh. While some of us ASPIRE to be so flawed...

This is really nice. And if you secretly ARE Eddie Vedder, or Matthew
Sweet, or something, forget about the car thing. Buy me a studio.
Small one.

Ed

It just WORKS!

Intimate &mdash 05/10/06 - 03:49:46 PM
I like this. I was going to make comments like Ejh did, but EJH beat me to it. So instead I'll just say that my favourites are songs like this, Angel of Small Noises and Found - the intimate ones. You do them very effectively.
