Description:
An homage to my Celtic heritage and to my
great friend and artist, George Selleck.
The painting is one of his. Brilliant stuff!
Enjoy!
Lyrics:
One day a painter called me name
One day a painter called me name
Me brush of sable failed today
And I no coin to gather clay
So, I am clung to the misery
So, I am clung to the misery
Forgive me o'er your narrow leet
I'm off and gaun to see me frein
Skeppin' o'er your ben so high
Skeppin' o'er your ben so high
With bonny gallus at me side
No time for blether or bridie pie
Along and dreich the caber's root
Along and dreich the caber's root
I breach the painter laddie's hoose
With sable brushes, fine forsooth!

I'm diggin' the reverb and echo.

hey rev! thank you for the feedback! echo and reverb are the things that can
be so easily overused, especially by amateurs like me. knowing when to put it
in and when to leave it out can sometimes be difficult.
for this piece, i wanted to drench the vocals in it, trying to obfuscate the
actual words and leave the vocal part(s) as more of an instrument.
i dunno if it worked or not, but i'm sure happy you liked it! thank you!!

The lyrics were obfuscated...I had to read along with them.
Worked for me.

day o &mdash 05/06/06 - 07:58:53 AM
This tune at first almost had the feel of Dayo, dalight come and me wanna
go home.
But of course when it continued had that irish feel with a drone time
backround.
Interesting! [ Reply to This ]
this is the second time i have been back in two days and... &mdash 05/07/06 - 04:13:20 AM
i still can't decide - i guess i am hooked on your earlier stuff and this is very different. it really works but i'm not sure it's me. i'm am getting a feel for the heather though. there's a song called 'will ye go lassie go' that would sound great with this treatment too - thank you for creating and sharing xox [ Reply to This ]
ah, a fellow Heelund heritager . . . &mdash 05/07/06 - 05:40:48 AM
me mum likely wouldne care for it, wid her Paisley background. But I
found it reminding me of some of the Steeleye Span stuff I enjoyed so
much in the mid-70s. [ Reply to This ]
Simple... &mdash 05/07/06 - 06:12:46 AM
...but very effective. At times I thought the delay was a tad too much, but I
really didn't mind. It all makes that very cool, kinda surreal vibe. Like
some sort of distant dream.
Nice one! [ Reply to This ]

My wife will love this song. I have been introduced to this style by her,
her being from similar background. I really like the reverb here and echo
to create this mood and setting. Sounds like you are representing the
open land. Good job. God Bless. [ Reply to This ]
How pathetic am I? &mdash 03/15/07 - 07:26:34 PM
it's been so long since i revisited this song, that i failed to acknowledge
the kind words left for me. Thank you all very, very much for your
words and kind thoughts.
i remixed this one later with much less of that reverb and a bit more
sound effects lightly sprinkled throughout. it resides elsewhere, but i
hope that someday we can do a "Replace Song File" here and I can
update without losing everything.
thank you all again! [ Reply to This ]
