Description:
This is an update to the original posting of this song, though still not the final version. My coconspirator added bass and lead guitar to this, though he still wants to go back and clean it up. Since that hasn't happened yet, I thought I go ahead and post this version for comments and such.

Lyrics:
When it comes to life and love there just are no rules
Like how she tried to make sense out of a senseless fool
Too blind to realize when he had it made

Just when it seemed I'd come around that's when it all fell apart
Opportunity came knocking, 'stead I broke her heart
'Cause I wouldn't go, though she couldn't stay

I've never been to Atlanta
That's where my heart resides
From what I hear it's been happy
Although it's taken some time
And while it's living its new life
I hope it misses me still
I've never been to Atlanta...

Yeah we've talked a few times
And I tell her that I'm doing fine
Though I don't believe a single word I said
Should have been there all along
But it's just hard for me to admit I was wrong
So I guess I'll just go pack my bags instead

I've never been to Atlanta
That's where my heart resides
From what I hear it's been happy
Although it's taken some time
And while it's living its new life
I hope it misses me still
I've never been to Atlanta
guess I probably will.

So are you going to Atlanta, or what! &mdash 05/06/06 - 11:07:21 PM
Gotta be where your heart is, bro!

Nice song. Really catchy chorus.

Nice bass work. I don't really like the effect on the lead guitar. Assuming that is what I'm hearing in the left with the wah-wahing. A more straight up guitar may sound better.

Also, in the first verse, there is a very brief note from the guitar. I think it's a mistake. It plays when you sing "make sense out..."

I like your singing. Nice tone and phrasing.

And one more time, if you are not in Atlanta yet, what are you waiting for?!? Cheers.

Yeah, the one thing that's kept me from posting this as-is is that single note he
hits before he actually ever comes in...he hasn't given me back the original file
yet, so I can't fix it. Also thinking about putting a vocal harmony on the chorus.
Glad you liked it, though...thanks.

Well for starters ..... &mdash 05/06/06 - 11:08:48 PM
I always like songs that have that acoustic sound to them ... so there's your first plus .... I kept hearing hints of a "Crowded House - Better be Home Soon" influence .... don't know if it was the melody of the song or the vocal style .... or what .... but it's a good tune .. I liked it .... sorry I don't know how to comment on the technical issues because I am not a musician in that sense .... but I don't hear the technical issues (if there are any) anyway for that very reason !

A beauty blammer &mdash 05/07/06 - 05:31:10 AM
incredible bassline too.

And I do have a suggestion.

Send this to Schletty with the words: "backing vocals?"

There's an excellent Eaglesish quality to it that is just screaming for
more voices.

And I'm willing to bet Schletts won't be able to resist it. Wish I had a
little more time cuz the harmonies are floating around in my head
already too. Ah hell, send me an email if you think you'd like to hear
some harmonies in it and I'll see if Schletts & Dadai have a minute.

cheers
snow

In case you were wondering, Atlanta isn't so great. I was there last year
for the FIRST Robotics Championship Event.

Great song. Singing is fantastic. I like the simple arrangement. The
production quality is something I'm striving to achieve; I might have to
drop you a line to get some tips.

Lost love in an unknown city. I have never made plans to go there before
though I have passed through the airport a couple of times.. really like the
hook. Your voice is great as usual... when do you plan to post another
version with the cleaned up bass? I think it sounds great just the way it
is. The guitar parts are nice... and I'm really digging on the composition
as a whole... sorry I didn't drop a word in sooner. Thanks for sharing.

John
