Lyrics:
Title: 1000-Miles Away

Chorus 1:
I cry every time I think about you but that’s not bad.
You see I’m a thousand miles away from you and that makes me sad.

Verse 1:
My little brother he works 12 hours six days a week.
Trying to make a good life for his family and to make all the loose ends meet.
He has two kids from his wife and two of his own and a mortgage to pay.
Brother I hope you can find some time to play.
There’s my big sister with a new car and a busy life.
With three kids church and look out. It’s about tax time.
There’s my dad in a year he gets to retire.
Don’t sit around to much dad. You only get old real fast.
Mom what can I say except I Love You. I Miss You. Lord I miss you.

Chorus 2:
I cry every time I think about you but that’s not bad.
You see I’m a thousand miles away from you and that makes me sad.
Wish I could turn back the hands of time and be a kid with you once more.
But we all know that can’t be so we just carry on yah.
I cry every time I think about you but that’s not bad.
You see I’m a thousand miles away from you and that makes me sad yah
It makes me sad - I miss you. Now I miss you.

Sniff... Cyber tears, here.

Great singing. So genuine and emotional. I liked your choice of instruments. The strings are especially lush, so right for this song. And I like the hand claps in the end.

Lyrically, the song is simplisitc. And that's not a criticism. It's charming.

The world does seem smaller - we are able to travel and live in far off places. Yet, it's still a great big place with great big distances between our loved ones. When are transporters going to be invented?

Story of my life &mdash 05/07/06 - 06:12:46 AM
My eldest children are a thousand miles away, in opposite directions. In college, my folks and brother were 4,500 miles away in Brazil. My dad is now immeasurably far away, physically, as he has passed away

The worst part about separation is the opportunity for us to grow apart.

Thanks for sharing this song, it is very well done.

Thank you Mr. Luper. I’m sorry to hear about your father. Growing apart we
have done but in touch we stay. I hope you get to visit Brazil someday soon.

Thanks again for listening and your comments.

moved to tears. I'll wager a good many folks will identify with what you
have done here Michael.

Mr. Conductor, You always have the nicest comments. My mother couldn’t
stop crying after listening to this song. It was a very emotional song for her.
(I figured it would be) This song is as real as I think I will ever get with my
song writing.

Thanks again my musical brother.

More songs from the heart &mdash 05/08/06 - 11:36:19 AM
This is a good song. Musicians and singers have lost touch with the
reason for music which is to express exactly what they feel or are dealing
with. Good job with both. Good vocal sound, very clear and easy to
distingiush. Have fun and God Bless.

Very sweet sentiments here, Michael. I'm moved to hear there is that
much love between you and your family members.

The music, as always, is strong.

Well Done! &mdash 08/01/06 - 12:48:09 PM
I really liked the tune and can relate to the lyrics! The rhythm of the melody sounds pretty tough to pull off but you sounded great. I really appreciated the orchestration. It sounded pro!

Really nice mix! &mdash 11/05/06 - 10:03:00 PM
I found this song on the Ikhabod thread. I am trying to learn how to make good mixes and I try to listen to all the songs he reviews. This is one of those songs that can teach a lot. I admit that it is not my favorite style of music, but it is extremely well done and performed. The vocals are very emotional and heartfelt. I feel that Ikhabods statement that the ending doesn't work is wrong... I think it works just fine. Well done.

Family, friends;... these are what enrich our lives. I liked your song. It has to connect with so many of us that leave parts of our hearts in the care of those we love. Thank you. :)

tsada &mdash 06/11/08 - 06:48:51 AM
I can relate to this song. Im a migrant in australia, my eldest brother, mother and father are in the philippines, and my other brother is in Canada. Its been more than 5 years since we last saw each other as a family. I know the feeling. I love the lyrics and the candidness of the story. Reality indeed bites. Very happy to hear this song. This is a gem.
