Acoustic goodness &mdash 05/08/06 - 11:19:51 AM
This is a good song with a good mix if you only had one weekend to put
out three songs, this being one. :) Try using a little more wetness or
reverb with the vocal, and bring the vocals out a little more, maybe a
brightness would clear the words up a bit. Sounds good. God Bless.

Really good sound &mdash 05/09/06 - 09:58:06 AM
I really like the feel of the track. There is a sense of determination through the song, a strong will. I like the mood you've created.

I do wish I could understand the lyrics more. The vocals being brought forward in the mix would help that. Also, if you could print the lyrics, that'd be great. I have a feeling you have something worthwhile to say and I don't want to miss it.

Nice work.

Cheers.

Really good sound &mdash 05/12/06 - 10:42:07 AM
Hey, thanks for the nice comments. I am a little resistant to changing the mix,
because I like the big strummy guitar thing. I will give it some thought, and
maybe I'll do an alternate macjams-only remix.

Worth noting, and this is certainly an invite; I have going on thirty recordings up
over at macidol.com. I mention that mostly because this one is a fave over
there...

Go figure! :)

right out of the box &mdash 05/12/06 - 02:47:15 PM
From the first measure, ya have me... pro sounding production...
seasoned songcraft... and a great exersize to assign yourself.. I agree
with Jsacker... the voice could be clearer... but not much... remember
the 12 string occupies the same place as the voice on the speaker
cone... if you could carve out a space for each with the EQ... sometimes
you can mix with EQ... because the balance already sounds on... I'd
rather hear less reverb than more, so I like the choice on vox sound

Excellent song &mdash 05/12/06 - 10:43:19 PM
As usual. The mix of tones sound good to my ear, I do wish the vox was a
bit more up front. Regards

Oh say &mdash 05/18/06 - 04:51:27 PM
The Conductor was right.

Great tune.

Interesting assignment you set yourself. Haven't listened to the other
one yet but seems like third time is the charm :)

My only beef is that I'm one of those no-minds who likes to have the
words to follow along to.

Pitchfork review &mdash 11/11/06 - 05:51:35 PM
OK, sure, Silas' solo effort is head and shoulders above the pop pap that passes for music these days (I'm looking at you, K-Fed-Ex-wannabe J. Timberlake) but c'mon people, he totally lost his edge when he left Frogmorton and this song is a pale echo of the raw soulfullness of early Frogmorton tracks like "Go Jandek Go" where it seemed the very Earth below us was about to be rend asunder by the sheer force of the Frogmorton boys' will. So, better than almost anything around today, but to those in the know it will forever remain a fading echo of the seminal bang that brought light to our ears and thunder to our eyes and, for a brief shining moment, made Jandek dance across the velvet diiamond sky of our hopes and dreams.

I liked this &mdash 09/03/07 - 01:24:48 PM
from the first few notes. I too hear a lttle REM (I always get REM comments - so it's a good thing so far as I'm concerned). Nice, subtle, recording. Perhaps the mix is a little bit 'murky' but I enjoyed it very much nonetheless.

Thanks for a great post.
Peter
