Description:
The piano was played as a prelude by our church pianist, Marcos Rodriguez, on the Howard baby grand in the sanctuary. I took the recording and noodled guitar around it.
Lyrics:
Fairest Lord Jesus, ruler of all nature,
O thou of God and man the Son,
Thee will I cherish, Thee will I honor,
thou, my soul's glory, joy, and crown.
2. Fair are the meadows, fairer still the woodlands,
robed in the blooming garb of spring:
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer
who makes the woeful heart to sing.
3. Fair is the sunshine, fairer still the moonlight,
and all the twinkling starry host:
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
than all the angels heaven can boast.
4. Beautiful Savior! Lord of all the nations!
Son of God and Son of Man!
Glory and honor, praise, adoration,
now and forevermore be thine.
Hardware:
Howard piano mic'ed live during service with a couple Shure condensers.
Hohner Ebony guitar into my G5 iMac at home. Usual setup (CAD e100 mic, Roland UA-30 interface)
Software:
Adobe Audition at church. GarageBand 2 at home.

Good job on the mood connection and arrangement of the guitar. Getting
the mix on a combination recording like this is very difficult, and the
guitar is a little to much in the front. The volume is probably good. I
could not hear lyrics, so I am assuming they were not sung. I would like
to hear it with words. I am not familiar with this song. Good job. God
Bless. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks. I agree re: the guitar. I would like to hear the piano more, but I found
that, when I brought it forward, the natural echo of the original piano recording
muddied the feel of the mix. Like you said. Not an easy recording task. But I had
fun laying down the guitar.
The lyrics are there for reference only. There are some very good contemporary
sung versions of this on iTunes. It is a good hymn.

arrangement of a beautiful hymn. Ever consider doing BE THOU MY
VISION (my all time fave)?
