nice panning. like the drum change when the poem is read the second time. seems to be pretty nicely put together. you do a nice job of making sure the song mellows down when the speaking comes in.

appreciate the comment about panning. It took me ages manually drawing in the panning parameters in Logic for the guitar solo so it appeared to be a dialogue.

Good mix. The music doesn't seem unbalanced like most techno is.
Maybe bring out the vocals with a few different ways, reverb, echo, things
such. Also, when I listen to this I am expecting singing vocals, since i am
so used to it. Maybe throw in some background vocals, soft. Just ideas.
Sounds good either way, and I like the back off of the music when you
speak. Good job. God Bless.

I like the idea of backing vocals. I may play with vocal synthesizer sounds. thanks!

oh yes - incidentally, it's not me speaking on this - the vocal is a sample from a poet called Drew Roberts (see link in blurb on song). I can't sing and if I did it would be in a ghastly welsh mixed with liverpudlian accent.

I Like the Minimalist Lyrics &mdash 05/11/06 - 02:17:50 AM
The music seemed not as energetic as it could be and I think part of it is
what jsacker called it being 'balanced' - yes the instrumentation is
balanced, yet it is somewhat static - not as dynamic as it could be to
shake the listener up a bit.

The two artists at MacJams who come to my mind when I mention dynamics (soft
to loud/slow to fast/etc) are sil-VER and Electro Estate. They are very good with
this.

Hi Mungo, thanks for the comments. I know what you mean about the dynamism, but I quite like the solidity of it as is, although I will have another listen to the artists you mention to steal - ahem - I mean learn - their approaches to creating a shifting musical landscape. I suppose part of my aim is to produce something monolithic like a kind of music mountain! But maybe that's a bit boring for the listener. You've given me food for thought!

texture-wrapping &mdash 09/11/06 - 01:55:09 PM
I don't know - a gastly Welsh-Liverpudlian accent might be a nice addition to macjams : >

Of course, it would have to be the right type of music, but I would think industrial techno rock might work for it!

In this particular piece, I think the lyrics are a nice fit with the music.

All of your pieces exhibit catchy melodies. I like the various textures you wrap them in.

Thanks very much for the comments, but I think I'll keep my tonsils where they belong for now!
