Description:
So I wrote this and then listened and then realized I need a Joan Baez to my Paul Simon, any takers? [not to compare myself to Paul Simon of course] Also realized I've had semi-religious phrases creep into a lot of my songs recently, not a particularly religious person, but I am spiritual, not sure why I felt the need to clarify that.
Enjoy guys, and as always, thoughts, thoughts, thoughts...
Lyrics:
I saw my picture
Hanging on your back door,
Why won't you pick me up and let me rise,
Above the, circumstances of my, circumstance.
I'm not afraid to fall down,
I been down for such a long time,
But you got to pick me up
And let me rise, above the,
Circumstances of my circumstance
Above the, circumstances of my, circumstance.
Man walks in, says 'what's going on,
Hey, how you doin' my friend,
I just wanna help you out,
Just wanna hold your hand,
This world is, so damn long and
Crazy, so, Damn long and,
Crazy, it's all hazy in my, eyes.
It's all hazy in my, eyes.
"bridge":
I been down for a very long time
And I wanna pick my paces up.
And I know where to find you,
But only after dark,
Only after all the,
Horses have gone to sleep.
And everybody's just taking their time.
I had your picture,
RIght on my front door,
Don't you see that I picked you up,
Above the, circumstances of your,
Circumstnace,
Why don't you,
Pick me up and let me fly?
Above the circumstances of my circumstance.
END BRIDGE:
Everybody's been drinking but I ain't got no drop,
Everybody's been singing but I ain't got no song,
Ain't got no mother,
Ain't got no friends,
Ain't got nothing I could live for,
But I got my life,
I got my Blood,
I got my love of my Lord.

Nicely done &mdash 05/11/06 - 04:33:56 PM
Very cool, and an absolutely awesome arrangement with the words.
There are a few times where the background vocals are a little off key and
a few times where the words almost don't fit, but the style is definitely
good, and you can make the words fit! The fact that they almost don't fit
isn't a problem, it just seems too rushed in a few places. This is very
good though. I really like it! [ Reply to This ]
Great vibe &mdash 05/12/06 - 06:49:57 PM
Double Jsackers comments for me. The vocal phrasing is complicated and it works great. That is a craft in itself. I like the fact that you left all the noise at the beginning and end of the piece; it gave it an authentic feel to it. The vocals were a bit off key, but the vibe was so strong that I overlooked it. Thanks for posting. [ Reply to This ]
I like &mdash 05/13/06 - 01:23:08 PM
the vocal phrasing a lot, it's creative, sounding almost polyrhythmic against the guitar. Nice writing and performance, I really enjoyed listening. [ Reply to This ]
Big potential &mdash 07/02/06 - 08:08:11 AM
Very nicely done - love the vocal prasing - the slight off key glitches
just make it sound more live. This would be really worth some work
with a "Joan Baez", and maybe getting the guitar (which sounds well
played) a bit cleaner and louder in the mix. Big potential on this one
Nonso!
