Description
This is a work in progress. I can't sing, or should I say, nobody would want to hear me sing, so I have nothing but sketches of lyrics for the song. Story: Feb of 2005, I got the itch to get back into music after a more than 30 yr absence. Bought some music equipment: guitar, software, interfaces, channel strips, and mics, etc., for my own edification. In Sept 2005 my house burned down and destroyed everything including all my music equipment. The day after the fire I bought a guitar on ebay and was off and running again. Life is too short to spend much time without making music. Anyway, the song started as a chord progression I wrote over the summer of 2005. In January of 2006 I had my first guitar lesson and learned improvisation using scales. This is my first attempt at playing a lead over chords. My timing isn't great and I stumble a bit but hopefully you'll get the idea. The song title came from the first words that occurred to me while I was singing it to myself. It is a little long as I was taking the opportunity to jam a bit. My wife likes it but I am curious to see what other people think of it. This is the first time I have shared any music I have written with anyone outside of my immediate family. Enjoy, comment, or criticise, whatever is your want.

Beautiful...
progression and nice lead work here. I hope you continue to develop this
piece. It shows a LOT of promise. You're off to a great start.

Be well!

Beautiful...
Thanks for the comment. I will take "beautiful" anyday as a complement, as that
is what I strive for in my music. It does have a lot of promise, but it also needs a
lot of work. My problem, if you can call it that, is that I consider myself primarily
a songwriter, not a musician. I have written many songs, but I don't sing well,
nor am I very technically proficient on guitar or keyboards, a function of no
training and years of disuse, which oddly enough doesn't hamper my
songwriting, only my performance. I guess that is a pretty big "only". It took me
many takes to get that lead down, and it still isn't what I hear in my head nor is
it free of mistakes. I will save your comment like the first dollar, just for
posterity's sake. Question. This is my first time on MacJams. I would like to
access your work but I don't know how. How do I navigate to access it?

Good guitar
Sounds good, and works well together. The panning sometimes gets
dizzy, but it is good. This will turn out well, just keep working on that
guitar!!! I also have a very hard time playing the guitar, so i understand
your statements! Good job though

Good guitar
Funny you should mention the "panning", my wife made the same comment.
Actually I didn't pan anything, it is a built-in artifact of one of the effects I used.
My wife thought that the sort of "ringing" noise, and the phase shifting in the
background was distracting. I selected the effect for its overall feel, especially
on the opening chord progression as it descends into the opening guitar solo.
There are no drums or bass or anything else, just rythym and lead, so I wanted
to fill out the sound and I thought it did what I wanted, make it sound like more
is happening than there is. I probably would use it with more discretion or not
at all in a final version with vocals, bass, drums, etc. Thanks for the comment.

This is good.
a fine piece of meditative guitar driftwood floating along. Very calming and consistently well done. This could easily be the soundtrack where the guy is doubting himself, unsure he is making the right move, as he walks along the ocean's edge, reliving his last 24 hours. Real good instrumental.
