Description:
My first posting. I'd like some feedback.

Lyrics:
(Verse 1) Set apart on a hill all alone but is seems,
No on one really knows just how hard it can be,
The hill that he climbed looking down on a dream,
On a town, everything is so quiet and clean,
On the other side-
Screams and fingers pointing at him,
Accusing him of every single thing that he did,
Picking him apart, exposing his sins,
But none know what is like to be in his skin,
Where he disregards their opinions,
There he is, balanced on society's brink,
And still he does not even care what they think,
No word left to say, they can't bring him down,
Their confused, they don't know what to say now,
His feet kick up dirt and his footsteps resound,
In the stillness he moves, but still he's unfound,
In the noise, in the mob the dust and the slime,
Chain-link on a fence rusts over time,
But even when it's rusted remember when it would shine,
And beneath the surface, under the mask,
You just know that he's different as soon as he walks past,
But he has nothing else between these two lives,
So he lives and he learns set apart he survives - and that's why...

(Chorus) - Everyday he feels like he's trapped in a dream,
When he speaks he's questioned 'cause' he can't attach what he means,
And everyday, he thinks he might be insane,
Because he's hurtin' but he can't find the source of the pain,
No one can help,
Nothing can make him feel well,
So even in a full room, he's somewhere else,
He's set apart,
Always searching for himself.

(Verse 2) Back for a second give you a smile and a wink,
Then he's off to his dream but it's more real than you think,
He's just a little, beyond your reach,
Makes you wonder what he would say if he were to speak,
If he were to preach,
What if he were to teach,
Taken so much in been ignored and ridiculed,
But he's never been rattled or shaken or fooled,
Doesn't mind being alone, he'd rather be there,
Than where he'll be ignored anyway, he just doesn't care,
He's set apart, off in the distance looking down,
In this haze that is the world as the clock spins round,
In this dream is it real?
Do you trust what you feel?
Is this what he sees when he quietly steals,
Down the hill that he climbed and knocks on the first door,
His eyes open, he's not dreaming anymore,
On his way to school still as confused as before - that's why...why....

(Chorus) - Everyday he feels like he's trapped in a dream,
When he speaks he's questioned 'cause' he can't attach what he means,
And everyday, he thinks he might be insane,
Because he's hurtin' but he can't find the source of the pain,
No one can help,
Nothing can make him feel well,
So even in a full room, he's somewhere else,
He's set apart,
Always searching for himself.

boy, you have talent! The rapping was just as good as stuff you hear on
MTV. And it's even better perhaps since you actually had something
decent to say....if i had any sort of suggestion, it would be to maybe make
the beats a bit more heavy, to suit the mood of the song, and maybe
some variation between chorus and verse. With a little more work on the
music this would be a really professional song. Great job!

Thanks alot for the support. I agree that the chorus and verses should have a
little more variation. What would you suggest that I add to the beat? Glad you
liked the writing.

so much promise &mdash 05/15/06 - 10:33:15 AM
boy oh boy....I am not an expert at this style of music by any stretch,
but I know a good wordmith when i see one. The use of loops is
getting creative, not just straight from the can and that is good. I think
experimenting with the recorded sound of your voice is the next step.
Experiment with the different ways you have to eq in garageband.
mess with the reverb and delay settings. Try doubling your voice onto
multible tracks and modifying each....add percussion....

you have so much here that shows a great skill, and a great passion.
Don't be afraid to add something new. KEEP GOING!!!!

Excellent first post!

Thanks for the comment and advice. I'm working on some new songs right now
so I'll try experimenting with my voice. Encouragement was much appreciated

nice piano &mdash 05/15/06 - 04:57:27 PM
i love the piano. the lyrics are great. don't care for the style, but glad to see someone bring something meaningful to the genre. this would work well as a softly sung song. i have a style in my head but can't think of it, nice job though.

deep &mdash 06/10/06 - 12:06:06 AM
Everything about this song is righteous. This lyrics are deep and the
person saying them is just as good. The beat, along with the piano is
really great, and it all adds to the slightly-eerie feeling of the song. I
love the chorus. The whole song is bombing. My only problem is when
you faded out the vocals at the end- you should have instead faded out
the entire song; beat and everything. Otherwise, really great song and I
look forward to your work.
