Hey, Ilya, great to hear this new song from you... very different and yet not? You always seem to try new things and this collab with Tadashi is a good one. Nice how your slow, subtle sax line leads into Tad's ecletic electric guitar part. It works for me.
best to you,
Jack [ Reply to This ]

Good arrangement &mdash 05/15/06 - 09:25:34 AM
Nice slow tenor over a pretty hectic and exciting rhythm section. Sounds
contrastingly good. Nice tone on the tenor. Very well put together,
sometimes gets a little repetitive in the rhythm section, maybe use a few
different loops to throw a spice into the arrangement. Good job though
overall. Very impressive [ Reply to This ]

Nice collab! &mdash 05/15/06 - 03:10:01 PM
A fine piece of music here. TT's guitar is marvellous as per usual. Cool
sax work. Kudos.

Escalator that turns back &mdash 05/15/06 - 06:02:11 PM
This song is very pungent, and is fantastic.
I listened to the introduction, and i came to like it at once.
I was able to play the guitar very happily.
I wish to express my gratitude for Ilya.
Thank you very much!! [ Reply to This ]

Changes? &mdash 05/16/06 - 09:00:45 AM
Most enjoyable. As always, I dig your tenor sound. I wonder if the bass line could change along with the chord progressions suggested or outlined by the sax parts? Though keeping the sequence static while the other parts change creates tension, having the bass line move might lend more form and direction to the piece--like an AABA song form with B being a bridge. Thank you!
There are more ways of doing things than one; of course. The bass and syn lines were written before the sax melodies, and I felt like keeping them where they were... in this form the juxtaposition of the textures and rythms works, I think, better this way...

is cool too. Nice work! [ Reply to This ]

Ilya, very nice sounding composition. The sound you record from the sax is so friggin PRESENT, wonderful clarity. The percussive groove was as funky as it gets. Did you do the keys as well? there's some outstanding and yet very restrained keyboard/synth noodling going on. You package the whole in a pro sounding mix. Tadashi was the perfect acomplice on this. nice nice nice [ Reply to This ]

aprecciate your comments - no, I don't play the keys realtime (don't even own a keyboard), everything except sax and TT's guitar is pencilled in. One has to work with what one has :)
