Description:
Written in the mid 90's and resurrected in 2006.The 'up beat' groove reflects the joy a life has when focused on and lived for Jesus Christ.Glorifying Him in all we do should be our primary AIM!
loop-free
Lyrics:
I was hard hearted lost in sorrow
Hell bent headed south
So much more so little time left
Lord lead me out
Aim for One thing
Surely heaven will sing
Have you met the true King
We'll see Him coming down
Aim for One thing
People heed the warnings
Don't buy the lie
A little to the left back to the right
Heads up ready steady smile
It's not to late to get it right
So much more in life than your own ass end
Do you know the God of Light
Aim for One thing
Surely heaven will sing
Have you met the true King
We'll see Him coming down
Aim for One thing
People heed the warnings
Don't buy the lie
Take heed aim,aim high

Great understated... &mdash 05/15/06 - 07:12:20 PM
lead in, setting the stage for your guitar and vox, which together is some solid stuff. Short, solid, and complete is this song... even ending it as you began, for the perfect fade out. You've got a good voice and you sing well. [ Reply to This ]

effects and the style here. Works well and is really cool. [ Reply to This ]

good song &mdash 05/16/06 - 10:15:42 AM
If I had to say anything I would recommend spreading out you mix in the
"room" a little more. Maybe look a little harder at eq'ing premix so the
different pieces of the aural puzzle have more defined zones in the space.
Nice happy tune. [ Reply to This ]

allright &mdash 05/16/06 - 05:45:02 PM
Cool melody. Good guitars, the drums and bass fits right to it. The intro theme that repeats at the end is a catchy one.
I was sort of waiting for a bridge or refrain to make me catch my breath:)
But this is good work man. Keep them coming:)

Upbeat Tune &mdash 05/18/06 - 05:01:50 PM
I like it! It's got a catchy "hook" to it. The guitars seemed nicely
balanced- especially on the intro. and near the end. The extra vocal
snippets panned left/right were a nice effect with the headphones on.
Track volumes in the mix seem nicely balanced to me. On the fade-out
there's a guitar making a single repeating note. It sounded kind of odd to
me the first time I listened to the tune- just kinda out of place with that
other wonderful sounding guitar I thought. The vocals sounded great!
I really enjoyed listening- this is an excellent tune! [ Reply to This ]
Upbeat Tune &mdash 05/19/06 - 09:36:24 AM
hey, mikey d,thanks for the review. I respect your comments and enjoy your
musical offerings very much.Always surprising!
FYI:repeating sound at the end is a synth sound from a yamaha
keyboard, same unit I use to tap out drum parts.

Catchy Catchy Catchy Catchy &mdash 05/20/06 - 02:10:02 PM
This is good. Very clean and catchy. Nice singing. And catchy. Did I say
catchy? I can already tell that I am going to be whistling this for a week.
This would work good as a theme song for a TV sitcom since it gets into
peoples heads. Haha. [ Reply to This ]

Americana. &mdash 05/30/07 - 08:37:46 PM
Adult alt rock - sort of like Los Lonely Boys meets Daniel Amos. Good stuff. Can't say I agree with the lyrics, but there was a time when I definitely would have. Anyway good performance and production, and you get your message across. [ Reply to This ]

thought from the bull... &mdash 06/07/07 - 08:41:45 PM
this is just such a wonderfully assembled song. i absolutely love the vocals, while the music behind is completely on and honest and great.
i listened to this once, then played it again right after... you really got me going with this one. i love all the aspects of it - the drop in voices, the lyrics, the fade out - everything.
i think i played it twice, because honestly it could be twice as long, even just repeating the verses and such. it's that good of a song. that whole part of "A little to the left" is so wonderful and catchy, I could have heard it three or four times. brilliant!
well done and I'm so happy I checked in tonight. thank you! [ Reply to This ]
Thanks..... &mdash 06/09/07 - 05:21:27 PM
for listening in and your extra kind comments- the song has been lingering here at MJ's for a year now & I am glad it still holds up - I know it could be longer but that's the way it came out and that's,for better or worse the way it stayed - thanks for sharing your God given talents with the rest of us as your stuff is great!

Underrated &mdash 06/29/07 - 04:28:54 AM
Think you're a little underrated. You're very original, which I like. Super prod. and singing.
Kind of Buddy Holly in 2007.
Well-done

by for a listen - thank you for your kind words - I will be listening in also when I get the time - expanding on your words, the 'message' is the most important element - for me there is no reason to do any of this otherwise.

Faith &mdash 02/25/08 - 12:56:31 PM
As a Christian you show a deep but contemporary ability with your music, I am not a religious person as far as belonging to a certain Christian faith is concerned, but I believe in god whom I call my higher power, and who has helped me in my recovery from addictions, there fore I do have faith and I know i am being helped and guided threw my life...I like your songs altho the subject matter is not my favorite subject, I can and do respect you for putting it out on the line, for all to witness... [ Reply to This ]
Thanks for those.... &mdash 02/26/08 - 11:19:50 AM
kind words.I too am not at all religious.I'd rather be called a foul four letter curse word than to be called religious. As far as faith and all the choices of 'gods' goes, there is without a doubt many. After years of study to find just what is true and what is deception I now know and am convienced of the God of the Holy Bible. No doubt many a 'professing' Christian and many a 'religious' institution have mucked it up for those 'looking' for truth, but that shouldn't be the focus when we seek out the facts. As for song subject matter, I cannot help but write to give glory to the One and only One that can save me from sure death.Check out DeathBeth.com or maybe needgod.com.Again thanks for listening in and taking a moment to share a word and a thought. Still a cool catchy song &mdash 04/04/08 - 07:24:05 PM
Sorry mate this one didn't do it for me, but otherwise a great song. I would have liked it more if you hadn't pitched yourself as high as you did it sounds like you were at the highest part of your register with it, and working hard to stay in pitch. You did a great job singing it however it doesn't have the feel the first two I listened to did. I would love to hear a revisit one day if you are so inclined, it's obvious to me that your production sense has come a long ways since this was recorded. It is a very strong praise song and I love the lyrics and guitar work. I think the drums and vocals could stand a fresh perspective and then you'll have this one up to the standard of the others you have posted. Sorry for the book I have a tendency to ramble lol. [ Reply to This ]
Thanks again &mdash 04/04/08 - 07:45:40 PM
I too can write books also so......I never thought of this as a praise song, but now that you mention it;all the songs I sing about the things of God are really just that. Thanks for the fresh new perspective. As for the vocal work;it was the pace that was the tricky part with this one and not the range. The production is certainly lacking as it was just my second attempt at digital recording and I didn't have a handle on spreading out the mix,nor mixing down through a decent headset, etc.I concur on all points mentioned.I agree a redo is nesessary, but the chance of that is slim.Much to much going on in the journey to allow the needed time.Again many thanks for the kindnesses on my posts.
