Description:
Ziti was nice enough to let me put a vocal on top of his instrumental Blues for BBiscuit. I loved the music and was just fooling around and decided to put some words to it. I hope you like it.
Lyrics:
Salty Sea Blues
I loved you and you loved me
But you also loved all the fish in the sea
You swam away, you swam away from me
Baby swimming down to the sea, baby swim away from me
I cried a river, I cried a lake
And all those tears just for your sake
But you didn't care, you just swam away
Oh baby swimming in my tears, baby just never hears
What can I do, oh lord what can I say
I can't even talk oh lord I can't even pray
Because you aren't here, you have gone away
I'm going to buy a pole, going to buy a line
Gonna fish for another, oh lord I'll take my time
And I'll set that hook so she won't get away
I loved you and you loved me
But you also loved all the fish in the sea
You swam away, you swam away from me
Baby swimming down to the sea, baby swim away from me

Love the dialog between you and Z.
Really dig the words ! ! ! :)
Way to go.
Sounds like Z is getting acoustic! :^ ) He has been going strong with
the Blonde. Like that humor about 3/4 of the way through! That up
down slide Z :)
Again bronco really entertaining. Thumbs way up for both of you!

Thanks Bill!!! Yes, Ziti is branching out into acoustic and really putting out
some nice stuff. It sure makes it easy to put out a song when the music is
already done and it is of as high a quality as Ziti always puts out. [ Reply to This ]

you still have one of the best voices at MJ. Your vox compliments the
guitar perfectly. Nuff said.
Take care. [ Reply to This ]

Have a little shrimp etouffe, gumbo, alligator, suck some crawfish heads ("Don't eat the dead ones"), go to the crawfish festival in breaux bridge.
Cross the state line, and make it chili with barbeque sandwich & Corona
Jam down. This is kick-back, prop your feet up stuff here, guys. Nice!

As a native of Baton Rouge I can relate to your remarks. My favorite is chicken
and sausage jambalaya but the others aren't bad either. Thanks for listening
and the kind remarks. [ Reply to This ]

hmmm...a sad, sad day for my fishy friends down in the sea... &mdash 05/19/06 - 09:24:14 PM
isn't it true that man often destroys the thing that which he loves the most?...could have sworn that I read the first line on the back of a Valentine's Day card...the fish...one of the most overused metaphors in literary works...is a cold-blooded creature that seems to forever belong in the sea...I find it quite ironic that the man who sets out to catch a fish only becomes hooked himself, trapped between the land and the sea...perhaps, the fish is the bait for the man, sitting warily in his boat, who thinks so innocently that, by capturing the catch of his life, his life will somehow change...so I guess the real question is...when the man finally catches this fish and holds it in his hands and when he looks down into the gleaming eyes of the dying fish that is flapping violently and gasping loudly for air...will he have the heart to set the fish free? how strong is the love--as strong as the fishing line or as strong as the salty sea?.....nice collab.... Hey Mikki. It's me and Hemingway right? Only I'm the Old Man Up A Tree! Not
my most innovative lyrics but every once in a while you just got to relax and
sing the blues. In a song like this the words are just a vehicle for the vocal. [ Reply to This ]
i don't think &mdash 05/20/06 - 04:53:01 AM
I will ever tire of the excitement i get doing collabs. I love putting stuff
out there and seeing what comes back. In this case, an interesting
take on blues phrasing and lyric writing...really terrific stuff. I have
been thinking of doing this particular prodression again with some
words of my own....but this will be tough to top. You listened very well
to what was played, and didn't sing over the solo parts, making the
song nice and rehearsed-sounding. I don't remember rehearsing with
you....must be getting old.
Thanks for the big grin bronco!

Cry me an ocean &mdash 05/20/06 - 10:24:45 AM
I cried an sea, I cried an ocean of emotion listening to this. : )
Nice writing. You came up with a suitable blues theme for Ziti's superb
guitarwork and then developed it in lots of ingenious directions. I
particularly like "I cried a river, I cried a lake," both because it extends
the metaphor beyond one body of water, but also because it alludes
back to the blues chestnut "Cry Me a River." But the sweetest motif is
"but you also loved all of the fish in the sea," which succinctly explains
the heartbreak, while expanding the metaphorical sea, while also tying
in so nicely with the watery world the singer is drowning in.
Also, your singing deftly channels those old blues masters - it sounds
convincing!

Thanks Warren! Cry Me A River, now there was a cool song whether it was
Julie London's version or Joe Cocker. I wish I could write one that good some
day! [ Reply to This ]

Great tune from top to bottom. The lyrics could have been from
Ledbelly or Robert Johnson. Truly inspiring words. Great licks, chops,
riffs, rhythms
