Description:
I love spending time with my daughter, who is an awesome 14 years of age. She is a smart, funny and wise individual. She is an awesome athelete as well. I am rightly proud of her. She makes me soar!!!
I haven't posted a full-out song on MJ for awhile and i am excited about this one, not for any other reason than the acoustic and electric together in one place...that was REALLY fun and I expect blondie will be hanging out with sapphire much more in the future. Hope you enjoy....I am working on several more latin flavored things cuz Fran and Bryan (the drummer and bassist in my little band) can play the hell out of latin stuff!!! and it is so fun. It is also a trick to NOT sound like santana...when you hear electric guitar and latin rhythms--he OWNS that territory! I love Carloss' total emotional commitment to his playing...he is a giant in my opinion.
Let me know whay ya think!
peace thru music
z
Hardware:
2 akg perception 200 mikes, behringer 12 channel mixer, mobile pre, POD, 2 PRS custom 22 (ruby plays the solo, sapphire plays the french horns in the background) Guild acoustic (blondie)...she is a bitch to play but sounds very sweet...G4 and G5

ziti, that spanish kinda acoustic thing you have going on really works. This is a really great smooth jam, really gorgeous playing! [ Reply to This ]
Very well done &mdash 05/22/06 - 11:01:41 PM
Very nice arrangement. The mix is almost perfect, I prefer a bit more
bass and drum presence, but some do not, so this is a great song. Very
awesome guitar playing. Very enjoyable [ Reply to This ]
Ahhh &mdash 05/23/06 - 01:27:01 AM
This is just and really beautiful Fran!
As I dig the latin twist maybe even more than the electro-blues, this
one goes to my absolute favourites among all of you tunes! And you do
it soooo well!
The acousic on top of that great backup is a winner. Please keep on
exploring this style! You keep on cultivating this - and considering
your mature experience and the great talent you have to build upon - I
think you are able to make unforgettable stuff. I believe you can make
a mark in the world with you music!
Please let us hear more of it!
PS For some seconds, here and there, I could her mr. Carlos, but over
all I think you succeded ... [ Reply to This ]
Ahhh &mdash 05/23/06 - 06:06:35 AM
thanks curry!! it is a fun thing to do, mixing the electric and acoustic like this
i need to get an acoustic that is easier to play, ole Blondie sounds really nice,
but boy, it is challenging to the hands!
thanks for the listen and encouraging words!

Cool stuff Z

Guild blondie, eh? &mdash 05/23/06 - 03:24:47 PM
I have one of those too! A 1975 G37 acoustic that I bought new off the
rack. Sure it doesn't play easy... but that makes the notes coming out
of it have a bit more soul, I think. That electric solo is ripping! This
does indeed soar! [ Reply to This ]
You're getting great acoustic tone... &mdash 05/23/06 - 07:45:34 PM
You're digging in nicely and the guitar is singing... It's funny, but I can
kind of tell that the playing is a little stiff on the Guild, but it also sounds
like you're meeting it on its terms and still playing musically...
This is really pretty, and it's neat that you've dedicated this to your
daughter. Family stuff. I love it. I look forward to your version of "Louie,
Louie" for your son...

and Cannonball Adderley!...go figure! [ Reply to This ]

thanks tadashi...i know you have little ones....they are the people we love to
be with the most. Then one day, all of a sudden, they don't like to be with
YOU anymore. They are with their freinds...then to their lovers and soon
husbands and wives...and it goes by in the whisper of a breath. Love them as
much as you can...and give them a kiss even if they say no!
peace my friend [ Reply to This ]
Love the guitar phrasing... &mdash 05/24/06 - 01:09:47 PM
I really enjoyed hearing your 'joy' coming out in the wonderful guitar playing.
The backing, to me, could have done with being a tad louder so as to have more presence in the piece.
I totally agree with you about Santana. Let the Children Play and some of the Caravanserai tunes have truly spiritual qualities. My god wears clothes that were stitched together by a Santana riff, with percussive designs playfully running around the hem.

yes...i remember hearing the santana band on the radio for the first
time...JINGO....man it blew me away, the intensity of the playing and the
minor scales...and ALL THOSE DRUMS!!!
Plus, seeing a picture of him with a PRS made me curious as to what this
mysterious new guitar was. When I finally bought my first PRS in 2001, the
damn thing changed my life! [ Reply to This ]
i love your style &mdash 05/25/06 - 08:03:51 AM
Very tasteful &mdash 05/25/06 - 03:55:46 PM
beautiful tune, tastefully played! The mellow part reminds me a little
of George Benson. I love the way you "dig in" with certain notes,
putting a little "oomph" into your lines. You're a very fine player, for
sure!
The juxtaposition with the bluesy electric solo was an unexpected
twist, but it sure works well.
Any reason you threw in the Star Spangled Banner at the end?
Does your daughter play anything? I have a 16 year old, and she
suddenly developed an interest in guitar a couple of years ago, so I
gave her one of mine, and she seems to be having fun with it. Her
favorite band is some outfit called The Beatles... shades of me when I
was her age, except for her it's just a little fun, whereas for me it was
an obsession!
Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to hearing more of your
music! [ Reply to This ]

clark, I have no idea where the anthem came from....just popped out...maybe
a prayer for my daughter, that she will have a strong free country to live in
when she has babies to raise...
the anthem was actually a requested tune in clubs after 9/11...and i tried a
few different ways to play it solo on electric guitar...without copping the
hendrix thing. I played it more as i envisioned Duane Allman might play it, or
BB king....seemed to fit the moment and people loved it...some day i may
record it. Thanks for the comment...comparing my playing to George Benson
is an honor which i do not deserve....he is an absolute master. The saddest
testament to modern music is that a guitarist as great as Benson has to sing
pop songs to get well known...that's just not right! and kinda depressing if
you are a meer mortal. [ Reply to This ]
smooth &mdash 05/26/06 - 07:00:39 PM
nice and gentle production....good goove with a gentle sway....you can
almost see the breeze in this piece of music.... fantastic playing....this
keeps moving at a very tranquil pace....then that wonderfully screamy
lead comes in and tears it up without ever getting in the way
sonically....real nice....keep it up [ Reply to This ]

I don't know how this flew in under the radar... i thought I had you on
my e-mail post alert, you weren't, but that's fixed now... You make real
music, what a breath of fresh life... Much gets revealed about you
through your music, that is surely genuine. And is evidenced by your
thoughtful and unselfish forum posts, comments and your obvious
love of family... All of this speaks volumes about the kind of person
you are... It doesn't hurt that you can kick ass on six strings either
by the way... killer sound on the Acoustic (you may have had to work,
but it was worth it)
I lay on the floor... a bow just didn't seem to be enough [ Reply to This ]
