Description:
One acoustic guitar and a whole bunch of vocal tracks. Oh yeah, and an east German built electric for a brief slide solo.
Started out as a song about the time when my dad died, then sort of went off in it's own direction...
Lyrics:
The leaves must fall before the springtime
And the earth must sleep beneath a frosty shroud
I hear you call in the night time
And I see your laughter floating on the clouds
The night must fall before the sunrise
And the stars must fade before the break of day
I hear your soul when the wind sighs
And I follow you as if you know the way.
And though the night is so still
And though I'm frightened by the chill
I hear your silent words they fill my mind
The shadows fall in the bright view
And the moon has always got another phase.
I can't recall how I lost you
But I've found you now a thousand different ways.
You're crawling in the bushes, You're climbing with the trees
You're swimming with the fishes, You're buzzing with the bees
You're sparkling in the starlight, You're beaming with the sun
You're drifting with the snowflakes,
You could be anyone
You're growing with the branches
You're crumbling with the leaves
You're starving at the table
You're eating at the feast
You're waiting on the corner
You're hiding in the bed
You're nowhere to be found
You're filling up my head

Good song &mdash 05/23/06 - 10:58:15 PM
Nice harmony. Did you sing each part or do you have a software/
hardware device that helps in this area? They are very tight. Pretty cool,
of course harmony is my favorite thing! Good song. [ Reply to This ]

Thanks for the listen--I sang every part. No software involved with the
harmonies. [ Reply to This ]
Amazing range &mdash 05/24/06 - 04:16:54 PM
You have such a marvelous range with that vocal device you posess. This is beautiful work in harmony, melody and song. Beautiful guitar work.
The prose is good too, - I think it really didn't stray away too far on it's own...
Thanks for this!

Amazing range &mdash 05/24/06 - 05:55:15 PM
Thanks for stopping by, Harold, and giving it a listen. I think the bass notes that comprise the droning bass line were the hardest for me to hit vocally. A few of them still sound like stinkers to me, but they weren't getting any better with subsequent takes, so I just decided to move on to some new stuff... I need to learn how to play bass guitar so I can use that instead! [ Reply to This ]
DAMN MONKEY &mdash 10/08/06 - 09:27:22 PM

Hey DOCTORBIZARRE,
Thanks for stopping by and giving a listen. I am dying to get some more stuff posted, but have not had time. The old Chevy is not mine (wish it was!) It actually doesn't even run, but serves as a sort of billboard at a restaurant where I play sometimes--couldn't resist taking a photo there. Nice looking rig on your profile page. As for me, I drive a '78 Land Cruiser wagon...

It been awhile since I've posted music....hope to add more soon, and I've got some stuff recorded, but none of it feels finished to me... Might have to toss something out there this weekend anyway.

Wonderful folk rock &mdash 01/17/07 - 09:55:17 AM
Wonderful writing, vocal arranging. Combining wit and balance. There are some clicks in my version, almost like digital peaking, but maybe a ring or pick hitting the guitar face. I like the bass voice entrance, but its pitchiness was distracting. This is a cool song and might benefit from more production, perhaps a second guitar and more backing instruments to create more of a build. Very enjoyable. [ Reply to This ]
Bass guitar? &mdash 01/17/07 - 02:24:11 PM
I actually sang that bass part about 10 times trying to get it right (that's a lot of takes for me) and it still drives me nuts how it waivers off pitch. I wish I had a bass gutar and could just lay down those notes as a droning beats. I tried to do just that with a keyboard the other night, but couldn't get it to work--I think I've got too many tracks already recorded in this one for my iBook to handle.
Thanks for the listen and your insight!
